  1. All of these are available if anyone wants to pick them up on way past.
  2. Cant have been this year, that's blue sky there....
  3. You mean one that doesnt start with...."yes, he was wrong, and has had the whip removed..."
  4. I know of someone who runs a RN DM2 and his Land Rover using waste cooking oil. Tug deck Clyde or Clent? had a triple filter system using any old waste oil for its engine.
  5. Theres quite a lot of industrial kitchens next to the canal between Paddington and Alperton.
  6. We went up the Sat before Queens jubilee weekend, 3pm, nobody there. We came down 2pm on the Sunday of the big weekend, it was drizzling and they stayed in the hut. For Frangar reasons, we were quite happy about that.
  7. Cooking oil has been illegally dumped in the GU over a 6 mile stretch West of Paddington. Source is yet unknown, but it is costing CRT £10k a day to continue the clean up operation. See BBC London.
  8. It'll be training time. I was very surprised to see 4 CRT staff on the Southern Stratford yesterday, 2 together and 2 separately, one walking a dog!! Only boat moving was the day boat out from Woo'on Wahhh'en. So you will be back at the Cape Arm just after Easter then Mike??
  9. Rudder tubes dont get the high speed forced gravel and silt that the bow thruster tubes endure. Coupled to the fact that many Collingwoods were launched without any blacking whatsoever in the tube... Yes, we see lots. Most get the ends welded over as it is a big job to retrofit a new tube Luckily for the owners, most are in separate lockers with bulkhead above waterline.

  12. He wont let her....
  13. .....as close to Napton as possible.... 🙂 You need to figure in to your equation whether all the local docks have facilities to dock a GRP, where the usual V hull will need different supports to most flat bottomed narrowboats. Hard standing at Gayton, Grand Junction, Clifton (7ft max w), Yelvertoft, Debdale, perhaps at Pete Nicholls(Braunston), docks at Calcutt, Ventnor, Braunston, Hillmorton, Kate Boats at Long Itchington, Whilton, Weedon
  14. You were on here t'other day....😃
  15. That was the main jist of the thread opener.
  16. My complaint is about the waste of money and destruction of natural England that this has caused especially now it is such a short sighted and limited project. Buying up all land 500 m either side of the intended line and removing all vegetation across beautiful areas, many more instances of incorrect concrete construction sizes on top of the viaduct cockup. Just the loss of the Bree Louise pub near Euston needed heads chopping off.

  18. The white elephant continues its monstrous construction to save 2 minutes on a journey from stations not in the centre of either city at each end. Here is the palaver in the Colne Valley over the last few days.

  22. Today, boat crash at unidentified location...
  23. Tale of Two Fatties Pictured are 2 wide beams, the one on the right has been swinging the lead since before Christmas...mooring near to the A5 bridge, at one point exactly 14 foot and 3" across from another moored boat. The story is that is was ordered 2 packed, was launched last year, and it has all fallen off. It was taken to Whilton to get redone. Then it has come off again, so now, they are waiting for another 2 packing slot at Whilton and are happy to inconvenience local boater services since just before Christmas. The one on the left is getting lifted out and going Cambridge way. Unfortunately, they have opened a can of worms with the traffic police after trying to book a passage out of Whilton, turned down due to roadworks. The national exceptional load police gang have decided that not only can they make pots of money off the HS2 traffic, they have widened the net and now decided that boat traffic is a good revenue generator. So they have decided that the country roads from marinas are an ideal high risk journey, and quoted a fee of £2k for the Whilton to motorway journey. The boat was rebooked for a lift from Stowe Hill. Boats have been lifted in and out of here from lorries for over 40 years. Collingwood and New&Usel... have lifted hundreds in ... The new guidelines are that an escort is needed to and from the A5....a distance of 150m , the Heyford Lane section only So 2 police vehicles arrived at 8.15am and were on site until the lorry left at 10.30am. Cost to customer moving widebeam £2I, on top of carnage and lorry transport to cambridge way. ....and there may also be the same cost at the other end if the police movements gang have their eyes open and assessment forms ready!!.
