  1. Go as in on the boat or cruising . I guess then on the boat at all.
  2. So therefore then as folk can drive a lot further in a car than a boat in a short time then i cant see why we cant cruise again.
  3. Not from what i get, it was CRT
  4. There was no comment on not being allowed to travel on the boats, thats to do with CRT advising us under GUV guide lines, but going there you can as long as you use common sense for leisure. CRT will decide tomorrow or in a day or so if they advise us not to cruise or even be on our boats. Its all common sense isnt it.
  5. Not a problem, i though they had boats in being work on long term but last time i was up it was a good few years back. infact 8 if not more.. Botany Bay is full from what somebody on there said today, though they had a boat there and thats all. I cant get hold of anybody at the Bay to confirm it. I will still keep trying but maybe shut now. I was going to pop in today as i was working in Garstang today and to tired on way home to pop in.
  6. Ah well, this boat is going nowhere for a good while. Thanks all for the help. much a i expected really but had to ask incase i missed anywhere. Oh and @Ianws i called Wheelton, they only do short term standings. Captain Faffer
  7. i know most places are closed , just getting ready and planning ahead for it all.
  8. I am going back to morrow to check on it and pump it out a bit and see if i can get the engine running. Good old Lister ST2. The boat is at Adlington but will need going anywhere. Not to Chorley, that was just the area the boat is in. Hi Ian, at the minute she wants it staying on the L&L really, if need be and it come to it then it could be moved up there, i am good for going up there to do the work on it. AH yes, ill try them next week, unless there open tomorrow ill ring them. Cant believe i forgot about them, not been that neck of the woods for years, used to look that pub.
  9. The one a girl spoke of the other week. The one that was her grandads and sort of sinking but not.
  10. I have spoke to Mons bridge in the past and can go on but they charge me. Still no good as they couldnt even lift my Norman out there, to big apparently. So no chance with a NB. Also the boat is at Adlington Chorley so rather keep it off the Lanky for ease.
  11. My first port of call for her that place. i called Shaun this morning but no answer. Cant think of other hard standings around. I struggled for the my Norman last year
  12. If anybody knows of any hard standing available or coming in the North West please tell. For a 45 foot NB rebuild/fub.. Captain Faffer
  13. Just do it right first time, sod the bubble wrap as its no cop, and use PIR foam, either spray on sheets. all is to say, loads will come on yet with replies, and sit back and weep lol ha ha
  14. Got this done. GRP laminated a new plywood top. last had the canvas as was fitted badly. And laminated. Just managed to get it done, even though under cover the canopy had a small hole in it.
  15. I wouldnt say that Rach, i could do so much more. I have not been getting up until gone 9am, then play out after 10am, so there is 3-4hrs wasted. And then stop about 4-5pm. If i get the shell complete this year i will be happy then 3 year to fit it out.
  16. So the rear section has been butchered so i cant di anything on that yet for a while so i may aswell crack on with the front cabin. Being fitting new bulkheads and the Heads room walls. I had to go out to get supplies for work so while out i got some for my own boat. MMMMmmmm why have the letters gone chunky ?? Anyway i can see them better now ha ha. Well i found this place pretty local as i didnt want to go far from home even for work and glad i searched as i found these PIR foam at bargain price 1/4 of what i usually pay. Factory seconds though but no massive damage to them. 25mm /1inch thick for the Bulkheads and walls and 60mm imperial, not a clue @vas sorry lol but near 3 inch. The 60mm is for making the hardtop canopy later on in the build. All walls, and Bulkheads will will laminated in place to a thickness of around 6mm - 7mm ( 1/4 inch ) either side with 600grm CSM and 300grm Woven. So much of the itchy n scratchy going on here ground/cleaned all back.I ddi start with 1500 / 6 inch polisher with 60G but these are quicker I used timber to keep the sheets straight as possible. The deck height here in the door way is going to now be dropped as the step down will be in the deck not in the cabin. It will interfer with the Heads door opening. Under the deck will be the FW tank, of around 650 litres. I am debating if to have the batteries under there aswell, or above deck in a locker to one side. And this is as far as i got as ran out of materials and as i was off on a job at last and as i was getting them materials i got some more in, so again reducing my travel with the darm lock down.I managed to get one side of the Heads done but that was it and now ....... .As the weather has changed its mind as a week or so of rain forcast i have just ordered a cover fo the boat i am not letting the weather put a damper ( so to speak ) on this project like my last 20 foot x 12 foot or 6.1m x 3.7m. I will need to sit in on a raised bed of some sort as its 600mm low.Hey i mite just spray paint the boat now, in two halves but still be better than brush it Captain Faffer :)
  17. By eck, not heard of that for a while, stuck many a Capri wing on with that lol.
  18. Another good way is this stuff, Butyl again but in tube form. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rubber-Based-Strong-Butyl-Sealant-Caravan-Car-Home-DIY-Glass-Panel-GRP-sealer/221384238072?epid=1388441484&hash=item338b8763f8:g:fFEAAOSw42dZAeI2 Doing this method works for all sealants though. Dry fit the window Mask off around the window frame and around the edge on the cabin. ( inside aswel if you can ) Clean back frame and aperture Then apply sealant of choice to aperture and around screw holes. Fit window and screw down but leave a mm or so of sealant Run a pointed tool around window where sealant is squeezing out, its MUST squeeze out a little. Let set a little ( tacky ) and then peel away the waste and remove masking. clean back with adhesive remover any messy bits. When set full tighten down. 20. After over 5 years my windows i fitted have been fine with Neoprene tape stuck down with adhesive. these https://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.asp?intDepartmentId=1#14 And the 2 part water proof adhesive in this l;inkj. https://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.asp?intDepartmentId=1#14 With a little Sikaflex 291i to trim it off. Sikalfex joints in windows, if you use it alone can be removed in the future using a Multitool. Just gaffer tape around the window so not to damage the paint work and cut away. Captain Faffer
  21. I have a trade card for BnQ, Bury is open for online aswell. Besides the price near twice what i usually pay. Its not essential travel. Trying to be good and stick to the rules while on lock down.
  22. Thanks for the link, thats an interesting one. I am surprised that there isnt one for atleast 240v.. Know wonder i couldnt find anything.
  23. Word of mouth works well, but when it comes to LPG and electrics it more being qualified. I can wire out a boat and do LPG but to the standards required who knows until i pass the courses. I have seen scary things on boats i have worked on, LPG mainly and whats daft is they pass BSS, even to no LPG test point. pipe not supported, compression joints full of PTFE. i should hope all DIY fitted.
  24. And when they answer your question what do they show you ?
  25. Unimpressed as its not answering the question of courses/qualifications needed.
