  1. We had a boat built by Stillwater in 2010. There were serious delays in its launch and when it was launched it was so badly ballasted that it didn't get off the slings and was immediately hoisted back onto the truck. 3 years down the line I have had to paint the cabin myself, couldn't afford a pro job,. lots of corrosion below the original paintwork. Also at the same time I discovered.that the company had not completed the engine installation document for Vetus hence no engine warranty. Engine needed new mountings. Persistent water leak from skin tank bottom hose discovered to be the result of failure to put any sealant on the tank fitting thread. One Year down the line I discovered that the agreed galvonic isolator had not been fitted, the company did fit this. Poor fit of internal panelling around lounge windows. Fit of some cupboard doors poor. Having said all this the boat is still floating!
  2. I have one of these and reception is excellent. I have mounted mine externally inside a small lidded plastic food container mounted on a foldable short aluminium mast and utilising a usb extension cable through the window, which closes ok with the cable in place. regards Reikimaster
  3. I have an axiom 17x 11 rh fitted to my 65' cruiser stern driven by a vetus 42hp and PRM 150 gearbox. I'm keen to hear the views of other 'long term' owners of axiom fitted boats with particular regard to operation in very shallow canal sections. If you have a similar length boat to mine then what revs due you require to reach the magic 4mph (assuming reasonably straight section of canal of acceptable depth). Please could responses be restricted to those owners currently operating with axiom props or having operated with axiom props until recently.

  5. Try Pillings Lock Marina, online last time I looked it was aroune £2,300 for a 65' boat. Detailed prices are availble on their web site. cheers Reiki Master
  6. Hi Chris, I'm an animal healer. Much will depend on how much socialisation dad has had with his son due the early formative weeks of the pup's life and how much socialisation pup has had with humans during this period. Watch out for territorial marking by adult JRT when son arrives. Also dependant on the age of the adult be aware that it may be intolerant to the playful antics of the son if there has been little socialisation between the two dogs prior to the youngster arrving on the scene. Also be aware that there is no guarantee that the behaviour of the offspring will mirror that of the sire. Good luck. best wishes Reiki Master
  7. without a pic its difficult to be prescise but if its a ground covering plant with pointed leaves about 2 -3 inches high it could be an edible nettle.
  8. I use these radio types in my other daily life and the major problem is that quoted ranges are only achievable in clear line of site. Stick a few trees, bridges and other structures in the way and their range drops to a yards. However that doesn't negate their value as safe communication in locking situations.
  9. a very true and a nice time we had looking over the boats, even if my wife did astound everyone by suddenly deciding she liked oak trim and portholes after all. However we're going to Crick to nick a few ideas so that we can come back and compare again # Trouble is that very many builders haven't grasped the importance of a a well constructed website. Why is it that so many builders show a boat in build with toe odd beer belly thrown in for good measure but never manage to show good examples of their completed boats. Also some builders have pages "under construction" for far too long. You are correct in saying ther internet is king but only if you put a great deal of effort into it. In my search for a builder I have been put off from pursuing my interest for some builders purely because of the poor quality of their websites. They may well build fine boats but I'm influenced initially by the quality of their websites. In the same way that I look at white van man, vehicle plastered with advertising and driving like a prat, and I say to myself - drive like one so must work like one. I draw not too disimilar conclusions about boat builders with poor quality sites.
  10. Move the beer to the beer to the other side that'll level her up!!
  11. Will all this science be equally accurate if you pick up a bap and not a sandwich????????
  12. My wife doesn't go in for that sort of thing but I have a cat who does!
  13. WELL I WAS INDEED WARNED WHEN I POSTED MY QUESTIONS THAT I MIGHT BE OPENING A CAN OF WORMS AND i'M GRATEFUL FOR THE REPLIES SO FAR. CAN I ASK HOW FREQUENTLY YOU NEED TO EMPTY A CASSETTE IF ITS NOT TOO DELICATE A QUESTION?? MANY THANKS REIKI MASTER
  14. My wife and I are planning to place and order for a new boat end 09. We shall be living aboard in retirement, with a marina base in the midlands (for business purposes) but extensive cruising of the network. We have a short list of builders but can't decide on whether to have a cassette toilet system or pump out. We are lookng at all the expenses involved including cost of pump outs. So could we elicit the views of exisiting live aboard owners as to their experiences/preferences??? Secondly given the raging debate about 60/40 fuel split and charging methods by fuel sellers is there now any point in having a boat with seperate tanks for fuel and heat??? Your comments would begreatly appreciated very many thanks Reiki Master
