  4. No... he is not coming on his own boat silly. That moves even less than Nine of Hearts boat does.
  5. Hi Bagpuss. Been reading canal forum for ages but not scrolled down to the Virtual pub, seems i have been missing all the fun. Meeting up down at the Vale next weekend come along if you can should be about 5 other boats even Daz is coming.
  6. Your going to have to put more time finishing the boat than in the Prince of Wales jawing with Sudan. You need to walk the walk not talk the talk. But if you and Sudan can make it the gauntlet is accepted. If not we can always use a cabin boy
  7. Hi Pav. There is not much info in desturction manul. Operations 6.2 in manul states control settings of between 3 to 5 should give suitable temperatures on all models. I find setting 3 the best as this keeps the beer and wine just right. John.
  8. I thing i recall seeing a concrete hull in Gloucester docks museum arm some years ago on way back from a very merry Saul folk fesitval head still on auto pilot. Me thinks concrete is not as forgiving as stell or wood on the canals so not taken up. John
  9. Welcome aboard its a great life would not swop it. Tips.. If you can wind using ropes us ropes, the old working boaters did it this way no lost of face, more inportant no red face if using engine and it goes wronge. Make sure diesel tank is full as possible in winter to stop condensation forming in tank.and not running to low in summer to pick up crud in bottem off tank. Make sure if you have pull stop on engine that it goes back to on position. Before you start stripping engine because it wont start later. Been on the cut for nine years now and still learning and if in doubt ask. John
  10. It's a personal choice and many people don't like the idea of having to empty a toilet every 2 days instead of every 4 to 8 weeks and also don't like carrying a suitcase full of sh*t down the towpath. Must agreed with Gibbo you dont have to lose much space, have my tank in bathroom L shape one side sits the toilet with a washbasin and cuboard other side no useable space lost. The 2 person corner bath other side is a waste of space as in the summer as i dont need to carry as much coal John

Yes 12 passengers seem to be max as i was informed by a british waterways preson when going through Gas Street basin from the Vale after a sunday afternoon barbecue with 14 people on board (3 were under 12 years)that 2 would have to get off. No hardship as most were gettig off at the Old turn.My boat is 60". John
  13. Hi Blakey 2229 Mooring in Brum is is safe and reasonable trouble free. If cominging in from Wolverhampton/Netherton tunnel side, then the left hand side past Sheecote st bridge by the NIA or right side Sealife centre good moorings both sides .Right turn into Oozells st loop left side 4 good quiet moorings. Can be a bit noisy further on at Mail box side later in week thr/fri/sat. Should find lots of nice places to eat on Broad st, further in, the China quarter well worth the walk. Enjoy your stop over. John
