  1. Depends where you are going to live. Down south expensive up north cheaper. I live in the Midlands which is reasonable.
  2. It's getting dearer the further south you go, left Birmingham over month ago paid 70 p Frampton on the sharpness 74p out side Bath fuel boat 78p now in Reading fuel boat 88p. Although no split payed.

  9. Could be worse you could be moored at Minworth on the Birmingham and Fazeley canal when the wind is blowing from the sewage works.
  10. Many thanks for your input think I Will Go for the smaller of the two it is half the price and it's got to be better than the one have. Have always struggled with seeing in tunnels and yes I always put cabin lights on have been on the cut 18 years it must be my eyes it takes me a quarter of the way in those tunnels to feel comfortable seeing anything.
  11. I need to change my tunnel light on my boat which is 68 feet from the old brass car head light not very good at seeing anything. Have been looking at bedazzled and 2 stand out 1 has 9 LEDs 27w 30 degree the other has 14 LEDs 42w 60 degree what do people think is the best choice. I know it has to be angled to side and roof and my local tunnels are Netherton and Wast hill tunnels both long with would the 14 LEDs be to Bright for on coming boats.

  13. Thanks for this info -really useful! We are planning to go downstream to Bristol next May from Sharpness.
  14. Overnighted in the grazebrook arm Monday night it was very quiet due probably to the high winds and late in season. But must say it was a lovely location and we were in a sheltered spot.
  15. We're heading to the Stourbridge rally and thinking of overnighting above Park Head locks as we've not been up there before, and as a change from Merry Hell. Is it safe to moor there? Any local knowledge much appreciated.
  16. 18 months ago I had to replace the diaphragm in the governor on my Mercedes engine (om636)which had perished as they seem to be made of leather. Took old one out replaced new one started engine easy enough but when I went to stop engine the stop lever would not stop engine. This was before the cable was attached and no amount of adjusting the stop bolt will kill the engine. The only way at moment to stop engine is to push the control rod at the other end of governor - this has been fine so far for me with no cable ( I got used to it, as even manually didn't stop it) but the new owners of the boat want the cable/lever sorted before they collect. It's proving trickier to solve than I thought - any ideas please? John

  20. Hi Churchward Did the same job myself the week before including changing the fire with another (Morso Squirrel) but I was lucky that chimney collar was serviceable after replacing the flue pipe. The sealant you speak about is Plumba Flue I have used this to good effect. Not only sealing joints on the outside of the fire but when the screws holding the glass in the door snapped I used it to keep the glass in and this has stayed in place for over 3 years of constant use being a livaboard and is now a spares replacement for the new fire. John
  21. Looks like common duck having bad hair day
  22. Thanks both have now conected, will fill and try out in a month or two. John
  23. Hi Proper Job Yes makes good sense to me to have outlet to low point and overflow to high point. But seem to remember that overflow pipe went outside through hull. Could this have been wrong in the first place has it came with the boat and I have had the boat 8 years. The pipes and rads only ever got hot/warm 1/2 way down the boat depending on how high fire is. The fire is a new morso squirrel 22 mm pipes, fire at front, header tank 1 gallon capacity open the atmosphere at back of boat and the boat is 60 feet.
  24. Hi All Help Please,Just replaced central heating system which I removed 18 months ago doing fitout on side of boat thinking i could do without it WRONG. Now all I saved were radiators and header tank, I have now replaced all radiators and pipe work to back of boat were header tank is. Now I forget how it joins up. Header tank has out let at bottem and over flow at top. Thanks John
