  3. Hilarious. Clearly along the way you’ve also managed to learn sweet FA about fitting kitchens, ruining worktops, tiling, or getting ripped off by ‘professional’ tradesmen. The work I’ve seen on that kitchen is shameful. I couldn’t take money for it let alone put my name to it. Good luck with it. Continue to post. I’ll just watch from the sidelines.   4. Same with surveyors of anything generally. They make it look like a disaster ‘just in case’ and caveat it with all the stuff they say they couldn’t check. in this instance the seller has commissioned the survey anyway so it’s academic. Buyer has no come-back to the surveyor on this one.
  5. Have a read about epoxy on YouTube. hundreds of videos and far too much for me to repeat but generally you can either apply it wet on wet or leave it to cure fully between coats. There isn’t really a middle ground. Plenty of deep pour epoxies that could do the job for you in one go. However I know we’ve been over this before but it’s not a great finish. You should have either left it as oiled timber and saved your money and bought a laminate worktop or spent out on quartz. For your flooring / wall covering there are loads of panel solutions generally intended for bathrooms. Mostly not cheap, but have a look at Reco for one option. Your self-adhesive suggestion isn’t great for vertical but choose a non self-adhesive option and the right adhesive and it’ll never shift. Unfortunately the ‘right’ adhesive will be sold in quantities that will leave you a mountain of wastage. You could try a spray on contact adhesive but only Trim-Fix. I’ve not found another with the same performance. First sign of heat and most drop off. Your current tiling should be re-done. If you were DIY’ing that it’s barely acceptable. It’s certainly not up to a standard you should pay for. Layout, trims, finishing. All wrong. Be interested to see the standard of the rest of the fit Just had a look at DC fix. Seems to just be sticky vinyl on a roll. Not at all suitable for what you are doing. Link to the product if I’m seeing the wrong thing.

  7. Have a look at car scratch repair videos on YouTube for the technique. Far easier to do than for me to try and explain the whole process. Anything you do to just fill the scratch will be quite visible. Entirely possible to do a flawless repair by hand but it involves some quite disconcerting work to the surrounding area to blend it in. If you’re not confident after watching the videos then find a local mobile ‘chips away’ type business and explain what you need. They do this all day every day. Just not on boats.

  10. Could you sound any more patronising 😂. DYOR was never an answer to my question or any other. All of this IS the research. The forum, Facebook, talking to experts (by which I mean qualified folk not just those who claim to be or who repeat why they’ve read online). I don’t claim any knowledge if I don’t have it and I also don’t automatically believe everything I’m told without checking. If I did I’d have written off Renogy on the strength of someone telling me they’re not bonded (and maybe they weren’t). The joy of forums. 👍
  11. You’re not kidding. It’s all wrapped up and not even started it yet. I have all the conversion parts. No more than a few weekends work to install it. I even manufacture the bolt in brackets for the V8 to series conversions for others…and still haven’t installed my own. Original 2.25 diesel runs like a dream so there’s never been any urgency, plus work, other projects…..usual story.

Worth people doing their own research as their manuals state that they are although manual below is in ‘American’ UK version says it’s equipped with a ‘Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor’ but recommend connecting it to an external one also. I have spoken to a marine electrical company who say they are perfectly safe to install and they have done many, though that was in discussion about their inverter / charger.   15. Looking fantastic. Coming on really nicely. As does the Series. Here’s mine. Series 3. Left the factory as a truckcab like yours but now looks rather different and with a V8 sat in my workshop waiting for me to have time to swap it in. I only finished building the engine about 5 years ago and still haven’t got round to it. 🙄 Keep up the good work 👍
  16. Maybe you didn’t read my very first post. The question is there and copied below for you. Unfortunately it’s got a bit lost along the way and never really been answered. My research on other platforms has suggested that Renogy is worth your consideration if you’re looking though their customer service and back-up seems a bit lacking by all accounts. ‘Are there other reliable and obviously lower priced brands that people have first hand experience of?’ To be fair, reading back, the first page of the thread has a number of useful first hand recommendations from folk. Eg Sterling, Mastervolt. After that it descended into the usual non-boat nonsense.

  19. No. Instagram for the build and I’m now on a handful of Facebook groups pretty much all of which have provided measured, sensible and most importantly a broad range of opinions and advice. Good spread of professionals on there happy to give advice also which is really useful.
  20. I don’t even bother posting threads or my build on this forum any more as it’s dominated by this nonsense and largely worthless for proper info. Surely the Admins should be deleting or closing threads when they go off like this. (Or are they the ones posting it?). And before the admins give me the old ‘we don’t get paid, we give up our spare time for this’ garbage just bear in mind you volunteered. If you don’t have time to do it properly then give it up. If the end result is the forum closes then so be it. Nothing lost except for a handful of people arguing about compasses or whether they’re just making stuff up to bolster their ‘facts’.

  23. To be honest it’s the first time I’ve used it for hobbies. I post my paying work on there. Not to advertise but because most people have it so it’s a good place to tell them to go and scroll through my photos. It’s hopeless for advertising as it’s all cash-in-hand chancers recommending their husband / wife, and clients who want you to work for nothing. 😂 Joined the 12volt boat groups and two or three narrowboat ones. (Owner, interior, Springer). Just a much more relaxed and informed place to be thus far. Great shame. Build blogs are the best thing about most forums. You’re correct about the attitude. Newbies seem to meet the view that ‘because you’re new to boats you’re going to fail and ‘my way is the only way’. And god forbid you might be one of those horrible new boaters that might have a bit of money to chuck needlessly at your hobby just because you want to. Little wonder nobody seems to stick around for long. Pointless being on here just to watch every thread descend into nonsense. I’d rather be building my boat. Something else I think few on here actually do. Oddly, everyone I’ve met face to face through boating, both through hiring and buying has been absolutely delightful and helpful.
  24. Thank you and I agree (with the last bit, not the bit about me being great 😂). but I’m not sure I can be arsed to be honest. I’ve been increasingly using Facebook for questions. Lots of measured, informed responses and fewer egos. I’ve put my build on Instagram now instead.
