  1. And I have so much work to do. 👍 Wish there was less to criticise but you can see how it is……no matter. I will continue my good work and appreciate you noticing.
  2. None. I don’t do that unless I know something. A lesson for you there.
  3. Yea. Thats told him. You’re great. 👏 🙄 it’s his £180k, not yours remember. A bit of jealousy I suspect. 😉
  4. The answer to that is yes I’d imagine he does. There’s a handful on here who have literally nothing else to do and nothing to add to the forum, but that doesn’t stop them answering every post, regardless of how little they can add. You’ll find that the people you actually meet along the canals and working and living on boats are generally lovely. On here it’s all keyboard warrior crap and trying to prove how much you know about boats. Good luck with your search. Exciting times.
  5. Not just me then. 😉. I wonder if the regulars (or the mods for that matter) will ever get the message that their attitudes will kill the forum. Another thread where a newbie comes on with a perfectly valid question and just gets thrown a whole load more questions and assumptions about his intentions, knowledge and finances that have nothing to do with answering the question or helping him.
  6. £30k if you read the text of the ad. Sounds like a bargain if it comes with some sort of warranty to ease the worry of being an early-adopter.
  7. 🍿
  8. Well it was orange lamps in a series 3 Land Rover that obviously didn’t have them originally. Swapped out for new ones that looked exactly the same and he was happy. 👍😂. Sometimes you just play along and everyone wins.
  9. As a slight aside are you not able to appeal if there has been a misinterpretation of the regs by an examiner? Appreciate that it may not be. I know on MOT’s they defer to the examiner on some stuff. I once failed as one of mine had flashers that ‘weren’t orange enough’. Turns out there’s no ‘scale of orangeness’ to check against but sometimes its just easier to go with what they ask and make the changes.
  10. Sounds like ours. I left it as it was as full length ply boards still hit each steel bearer. Makes the ends a bit flappy as they just lay in. Nothing to screw down to. I got round that by flush setting repair plates between all the boards so although they’re still floating the entire floor becomes one piece. Once the flooring is down it’s weight alone will hold it all in place. 🤞
  11. For peace of mine I’d take them out personally but if you don’t then I’d at least trim the corners where water will run through to drain to the stern. Then slather everything in bitumen paint. It’s only really the lowest section in the V that should be getting wet. Might be mentioned in an earlier post but why are they there? To secure floor to I assume?
  12. 👍 I actually meant the other ones more so. Maybe it’s just the picture making them look like sawn timber or nearer to the base than they really are.
  13. Personally I’d avoid timber under the floor at all. Even treated and painted. I assume like ours your springer is designed to drain through the floor? You can get composite decking joists if you want something rot-proof but they’re not cheap. Unprotected even a treated 4” fence post can rot away in a year or two.
  14. God no. I love LadyG. Literally the only reason I stay on the forum. 👍
  15. Half the threads on here are like that unfortunately. Just load of bored old men with nothing useful to add but they add it anyway. Notable and telling of course that I hadn’t chimed in on this thread at all. But of course one of the regular culprits for absolutely no reason other than a tiny bit of self-awareness that he was acting like a tool to a new member, mentioned me in the usual derogatory manner because he knew he was acting like a tool. 🤡 And of course like Candyman. If you say my name I appear. 👍😂 Have a look on Facebook. You’ll find them all there. 😂 And yes, thank goodness you’re managing to scare all those folk away. That’s the essence of a lively and productive forum. What we need is less people, preferably all old and boring, and ideally many of whom don’t have a boat. 👍👍👍😂😂
  16. Very nicely done. A damn sight better laid out than the original wonky ones on our Springer. For your cupboard fixings, worth filling the inside of the relevant batten frame with 18mm ply. Easy to fix either through battens and into ply before you mount them or with pocket hole fixings after. Aside from extra support it also means that you can put fixings for cupboards etc anywhere in that ply rather than having to know exactly what you’re hanging and where and having to have a batten in exactly the right place.
  17. 🫡 Though I’m neither a truck driver nor a kitchen fitter despite what people say. 😂 Good advice though. They will probably get more friendly and more up to date feedback from Facebook since you mention it 😉 Also….outside of this forum does anyone actually think calling it FaceAche is clever or funny? It’s like a four year old kid with a ‘clever’ new word. 🙄. Therin lies the issue of course. Carry on gate-keeping though. Forum should be long gone shortly. Imagine taking pride in seeing off a new member. What a ………..🙄 Must go. Got a kitchen to fit. 👍
  18. Good option. Better still buy one. Amazon is awash with little welders for less than you’ll pay for a minimum charge for anyone half-decent. Arc/stick is very easy to learn. You’ll soon find a million and one other little jobs you can do with it too. Very handy.
  19. Just checked with my mum and turns out I don’t need to explain myself to you, least of all if you’ve missed the point. 😉
  20. @Tobi You may wish to ask a a few questions on the FB group linked below and get some knowledge from those actually doing what you are planning. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1Bv8NdAKpU/?mibextid=K35XfP
  21. More is better within reason. Tabs every couple of feet and line them up properly. In our springer they’re a bit random and not particularly well aligned. You can work around that but much easier not to. And think about where you might want battens for window framing, bulkheads etc.
  22. If you want to be warm I’d give that a very wide berth. Single glazing and lots of it. It’ll be freezing. Ideally you want few windows and lots of insulation. Less windows to stare out of might mean you do more work too. 😂 Whatever you buy have a look at diesel heaters. Cheap as chips to buy and run and will warm up a small boat in no time.
