  1. Hasn’t happened so far. Nothing useful anyway. I don’t ask on here any more for precisely that reason. Lots to say but no content. I won’t miss anything with them on ignore. That Tracy girl has been on ignore for months. She still posts replies to my stuff but I can’t say I’ve been affected by not being able to read them.
  2. Well I’ve finally added Tony and Alan to my ignored list. Going to make the threads look a bit odd as it’s 99% of forum content. 😂 But at least their boring nonsense might stop winding me up. 👍.
  3. Too scared to try it then. 😂 Thought as much. Imagine if nobody noticed you’d gone. 😱 As for bullying. All I’m trying to do is to improve the forum by suggesting you stop ruining threads with your pedantry and self-important belief that everyone needs to hear your opinion on literally everything.
  4. I think the bit that’s going totally over your head is that fact that you and Alan de E continually ruin threads on here with your pedantry, particularly over the RCD when it has little relevance to what’s being asked, or if it is relevant then it’s worthy of one comment, not ruining thread after thread arguing the toss over it. This thread is the perfect example. A nice build thread about a chap and his boat project that is now another dead thread and another member given up on the forum. You need to get over yourselves. However hard it may be why not try not posting anything at all for a couple of weeks? Unfortunately I suspect you’ll find that your input won’t be missed. Anyhow - enough from me I’m off back to Facebook. 😂 👋
  5. There are only two of you who care and it gets brought into half the threads on here. Invariably with no relevance. I’d like to talk about peoples boats, their builds and their experiences not see that certain members have an obsession with the RCD and have learnt how to use copy/paste. As far as go and do your own research generally then doubtlessly Google is clearly a better bet than most forums. So if the only thing a forum can offer is a more personal delivery of the (preferably relevant and correct info) that’s what it should be. Otherwise just reply ‘go and Google it’ or heaven forbid if you have nothing useful or relevant to add to the thread then go and play with your boat instead (I don’t mean you personally, just anyone who can’t stop themselves posting on every topic). And if you mean that Tracey D girl I blocked her ages ago. No desire to read her pointless drivel. 😂
  6. It wasn’t intended to be any comment on my threads tbf. I see the same nonsense on virtually everything that gets posted.
  7. I know. But it won’t stop me. 😂 Can’t honestly see what they get out of it. It’s like a boat forum that only exists to put people off boats. In contrast, most ‘real’ boat folk are lovely and helpful and in the main seem to be on Facebook helping people and not spending their lives being awful…or worse boring. 😂. In the main it’s because the boat world has moved on and left them behind, and instead of going with it, learning from others and enjoying it, they cling to a ‘better’ time that doesn’t exist and as a result just become more bitter. You see it in particular in the build and tech requests. Actual current knowledge is in short supply, they don’t want to learn anything new, but they can’t be seen to not partake in the conversation and so just divert it to something they feel comfortable with, copy and paste RCD or whatever stuff of no interest to anyone but them, or slag stuff off. Stick with it. All forums go through it. Just need a few of the bell-ends to call it a day, stop posting and leave it to actual enthusiasts.
  8. Nonsense. Feedback and comments are fine. The tone is not and is what destroys this forum. If you think it’s ‘fair’ then you’re as bad as the rest of them. Another decent build thread ruined and a new member left. And another load of boring pedantry posted. As I’ve said time and again, it’s as if the members on here want to make sure the forum ceases. Very odd. Shame. I don’t post mine here anymore either. Head across to one of the many Facebook sites. Loads of useful info on there and the comments on your build and any questions you have are far more informed than on here. You’ll soon realise that the pedantry on the forum is largely a mask for the fact that half of them on here have never built anything and know very little. Narrowboat Owners Group is a good start but there are loads. Every question I’ve asked on them has been met with informed intelligent comment and information that has really helped. 👍
  9. Oh well. Another thread ruined. Pots and kettles spring to mind. 🙄 🥱
  10. No because you’re doing what you want and life is short. Post some pics of your new boat. Would love to see it.
  11. Caldwell, seals direct, Wesley marine, EBay. Lots of options. Ideally you want to send them a photo of the seal in section with measurements. Entirely possible that it doesn’t exist any more of course so you’re then looking at finding something that will do the job, or have Seals Direct make it for you at substantial cost. In my current case it turns out that the flipper seals on my Springer window hoppers are a close enough match to Jag Mk1 E Type door seals. Expensive but cheaper than new windows.
  12. Pop into your local Brewers. They have RAL charts. As has been said photos whether original or then viewed via a screen will likely be nothing like the original.
  13. Probably true but let’s get back to admiring this chaps boat build on this thread. 👍
  14. Not your issue. Perfectly valid question. Just doesn’t need to be answered by the usual suspects and their pointless nonsense. Would be a shame to see another decent build thread get ruined with this drivel.
  15. Maybe don’t ruin this guys build thread with another competitive bore-off about the RCR/SOS/ABS/SAS as let’s be honest only two of you care so why not start your own thread on it and you can keep that going for as long as you like. 👍
  16. Very nice. 👍 What’s your insulation? Looks like polyester fleece wadding of some sort.
  17. Caldwell, Wesley Marine, Seals Direct. Lots of options and all very helpful in my experience.
  18. Perfect answer from someone who knows what they’re talking about. Just what the forum needs. Many thanks.
  19. You’d probably do better to walk away from the occasional thread 😂 but as I said I’m not here to compete in some sort of weird knowledge battle with you. That’s just the sort of thing that makes many threads on here go off on a useless tangent. I’ll leave it here because it adds nothing more. Make sure you post a reply to make you feel superior though. 👍😉
  20. I have no need to. I’ll leave the d1ck-swinging desire to answer every post to others on here. I was just answering the original question in so far as there isn’t a missing part and that slot is just a simple frame drain. If I don’t know something, I’d rather not continually post a load of ‘what-ifs’. As I’ve said before I find it best to answer if I know something and to read, learn and say nothing if I don’t. As you’ve asked though, anything is possible, but the work involved in being able to adapt that slot into some sort of useful drain channel unless you have the ability to fabricate and the skill and equipment to TIG weld ali aren’t worth the time involved. I’d either use it as it was intended and accept it doesn’t do much and find another way to deal with condensation, or stump up thousands for modern double glazed units.
  21. Don’t over-complicate this. As I’ve said. It’s just a drain hole. Nothing more. Not a particularly efficient design but it is what it is. Very common design that’s been around forever.
  22. That slot in the frame is just a drain. Designed to let out any water that gets past the glazing seal. They would have had a rubber seal originally and not the mastic / silicone your glass has been fixed in with. If you dismantled it all you’ll find is a hole from the outside into the frame. It doesn’t continue inside and isn’t designed to drain condensation. Or at least only any that gets past the seal. Pretty standard design in any window of this type.
  23. Amazing stuff. Use it for all sorts. In fact as we speak I’ve just mixed some up to repair the minor imperfections in the plastering on the latest bathroom project before I paint. 👍
