  8. When it became compulsory for dogs to be chipped many organisations offered a free service. When it become the same for cats, you never know, a similar scheme may arise.

  10. Was all that cleared. It’s amazing how much stuff people Chuck into the canal. I realise it has happened for years and years but when you see it, it’s very disappointing what humans get up to.
  11. Welcome Sylvo. Always good to see new contributors in here. You are right in saying Sea Otters are not everyone’s favourite, but there’s plenty of them around. I knew an owner on a Sea Otter many moons ago, he was a happy owner. Pyrford is, as far as I know, is a good Marina and in a ‘nice’ part of the country. Enjoy your boat. As others will be along soon and say, photos please, so I will get in first and say Photos please. We like photos.
  12. Ours are presently used as ballast, somewhere. I do like to see them though.
  13. Too messy for my liking. In my opinion walk away. As has been said there’s a boat somewhere just waiting for you. Go looking again. I wish you well.
  14. The Beer Engine is well worth a visit. To add, we found The Railway Inn a great place for lovely food, beer and company. Sunday lunch is a must. But don’t forget to book.
  15. We ‘had’ to spend nye on four months in Skipton last summer due to lock closures (lack of water). Skipton is a lovely town but being there for such an extended period enticed me to look forward to leaving. Which we did in October. Given the choice, from Silsden head for Skipton. But watch out for the occasional almost inoperable swing bridges. Beautiful countryside though.
  16. I think I’m being a little mis-understood. He was a businessman through and though, but very abrupt. He brought our settee to Thrupp near the lift bridge. Blocked the way and refused to shift when asked. Said his driver would be there at such and such a time and I got a phone call from him asking where we were, about an hour earlier than planned. We arrived half an hour later and the driver was him. Ihad no idea he was the driver until I met him for the drop. Thought he might have mentioned that. I was just not comfortable with him. Hey Ho! The settee is spot on. No idea who made them for him.
  17. He was okay but rude. In my opinion.
  18. Wilson’s covers or what ever their name did cease years ago. But old man Wilson carried on with the chair and settee business. You are correct, Kinver Canopies evolved from Wilson’s. We bought a bed settee from Mr Wilson in I think 2014. What a rude Yorkshireman. Regarding the chairs, we bought from https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/stressforless We are very pleased
  19. We bought a Stressless chair secondhand. £370. It’s Bloomin marvellous.
  20. Thanks for that, but they live on the South Coast. It seems that companies buying up independents is not helping the situation. Lack of funds from Governments.
