  7. I know - the site's rather tempting, and that all the prices include delivery too just makes one realise how competitive they are . . . . (and I'm not on commission!!!)
  8. You may also like to have a look at this excellent website . . form experience, they are prompt, cost effective, and sell some extremely good gear Clicky in fact, for just under £11 delivered, this waterproof one could well be the mutts nuts second clicky Edited to add clicky2
  9. Well done Mike . . . I reckon we're about two years behind you before we realise our dream . . . and must profess to a healthy admiration (tinged with a teeny bit of envy!) for you. Enjoy every moment of it Squire!

  14. Indeed . . . and I guess a goodly proportion of the heat in the engine compartment / room / area will have been originated by the exhaust system . . . . . However, I have no idea yet, what % of recoverable heat is normally transferred to the calorifier (on yer average narrowboat) . . I shall engage in further research before I venture forth again . . .. .

  16. I wasn't - but nevertheless a fair idea . . . . No - I was just really just wondering whether it was a 'financially' viable exercise recovering as much heat as possible (for the winter months to use inboard) and to reduce the operating temperature (and increase efficiency of the alternator / engine during the summer months . . It may well not be physically feasible, but realising that energy (in whatever form) is a valuable commodity on a boat . . .
  17. I wonder then, would it be worthwhile running a cooling system through the engine area, (possibly even with an optional heat exchange to the outside / inside (depending upon the ambient temperature) . . . I appreciate that the engine water jacket does this job more effectively - but in your opinions would it be cost effective to recover this 'secondary' heat* (*non-technical phrase !)

  19. Does it go on the very top face of the mast - so that passing Air-Sea Rescue 'copters can see you in misty weather? (get me coat . . . . . )
  20. Oh - how true! . . wonderful observation!
  21. You really are suggesting, at best, an hollow and specious argument . . the comparison with cars is neither relevant or helpful. However, you have still not managed to disguise the fact that 'your side of the argument / discussion' does not detract from the simple fact that your sole wish is to satisfy your own self interest, and, moreover, at the expense of all others . . . Society generally arrives at rules for the benefit of the majority - not the selfish minority - - - - of which, it would appear, your are a leading exponent.
  22. Racist - not at all Accurate?? - - only by about 99% - (but could be construed as 'accurate' to the general understanding of the word!)
  23. Mayalld - - I was solely referring to Larkshall . . for I am always a considerate canal user, whether on foot or not! . . Now - should Larkshall's comment about HB bastards indeed be tongue in cheek - - then I did (very easily) misread his observation . . . and admonish him - gently
