  2. From the context - its was used to keep things put away in whilst in dock - so I wondered if the opposite were true ?
  3. Thanks peeps CarlT - statements like that remind me how old I am, and how things have changed. My daughter was horrified when I told her we didn't used to have mobile phones - only 3 TV channels - looked at us gone out when we showed her a 7" single - was amazed that you could have music on both sides .... I just heard mention of a 'Dock' box on a yacht - would that be similar or more of a locker/chest ?
  4. not very relevant - but some work in oak I did a few years ago for my repro antiques stall. Its the only photo I could think of thats handy !
  5. Took a bit of searching - and its still not the one I was looking for, but you can get stoves for tents that are quite small http://soulpad.co.uk/sanctuary/index.php?o...52&Itemid=1
  6. My workshop is heated by a 15Kg gas bottle
  7. just remember to weigh the old one in - you may even get more for it that the new one costs !
  8. Well I have plenty of oak and a full wood working shop - if you can describe it , I can make it. If its like a pigeon box - ie quite small - then I'll do you one for free, and then maybe make some more to sell I'm in Coventry - so about an hours drive from you. you going to crick ? perhaps we could meet there ?
  9. how about a cheap combination lock from pound land ? no need to look for a key, and the fire brigade could open the lid by sneezing on the lock ! but it would 'look' secure to the opportunist thief. I did view a boat once with the locker 'locked' and a shut off gas stop cock just as the pipe leaves the locker. I wondered if that was acceptable or not - it was one of these cheap Chinese import boats, if that makes any difference at all ? (I wasn't impressed with the rest of the boat)
  10. well if it makes you feel any better ..... I was wondering the same thing
  11. I have heard that a candle will do a good job that way too - heat , add candle, wax melts and is drawn into the joint ...
  12. yeah - how can it be fair to charge the same for a boat that doesn't have access to the narrow system ???
  13. I aggree - but BW just dont seem to be bo'v'ered they will collect from those that pay and wont bother - too much effort- with those that dont
  14. I have spoken to mooring officers who stated they can 'crane the boat out of the water' and take it away. Others have told me that they can give threats to this effect, but BW wont follow through/back them up so it's an empty threat, and the boaters know that ! the whole thing is just a mockery ! I sometimes think I should say 'I will pay if they do' pointing to those opposite ! I dont like breaking the rules though - so I just end up getting annoyed at BW - not the boaters , because why should they pay ? no one will do anything if they dont !
  15. Well - cars are built with 0.8mm sides, and I have some that are 40+ years old. sure they need to be looked after and repaired - but 1 - 2 - 4 mm ??? after all - if they are painted correctly - they cant rust ? no ?

  17. when I asked BW why I should have to pay moorings and indeed license fees when boats around me didn't have any, I was just told that they (BW) couldn't really do anything about them ! if they moved tham , they would only moor somewhere else - or come back. They really didnt seem bothered.... Just take from those that pay - and dont get off their ars*s for those that dont nope - still dont like BW !
  18. I have only ever given my CoC and Insurance - nothing has been said about anything else required ? Is this just another BW thing to get money 'whatever' rather than sticking to the rules ? Should I have had a BSS inspection after a year - even though the boat is unfinished and doesn't go anywhere ? no one has told me so !
  19. if 4 or 5 was plenty ... would 12 be 'better' ? or is 4 all you need ? if you get my thinking ?
  20. I bought my 'shell' 2 years ago I battened it an had it spray foamed - I put windows in the holes that were already there, and thats it - no gas - no elec - no water what's not to be right ?
  21. you beat me to it I keep my coal in a scuttle
  22. when does a bssc or rcd become legally needed ? for instance ... I was 'sold' my boat by Colecraft. I just got a CoC as it was a shell, with an engine could I not sell this 'shell' again legally without bss or rcd ? how much work would I need to do before I had to supply an RCD or BSSc ?
