Did you see the helmsman he was constantly turning the wheel even at slow speed ! it looked like the rudder was flapping about and the wheel was trying to catch it up! glad i wasnt steering that thing

Been past the marina and i have seen the boats you refer to, but i would be careful about mooring there its sometimes a troublesome place.also much over 54ft you will struggle to get out of the very crowded marina onto the main canal.So if you buy one are you taking it elsewhere?

legally to lift any boat you will need a crane which has all th relevant doc,s plus an appointed person who will have written a risk assesment and a method statement after that slingers will have to be named as will the crane driver on all documentation,should you not be able to produce all of the above you can ask the crane hire company for a contract lift whereby they do all the paperwork this will up the price by a considerable amount,ie 500 quid crane will cost around 1200 be warned

i recently had to rescue a guy in Gunthorpe lock who fell off his dutch barge,after i got him safe and his boat secure to the lock i climbed up the steps away from his boat and when i reched the top i was met with a BW"suit" who never even said well done he just stood there blank faced "oh id rather be having a good shit than stood here face" he never even spoke to me i returned to my boat at the other side of the lock and the lock keeper said to me thanks thats all i need my boss watching all this BW get real we pay your wages talk to us we are real people not problems

The chandlery shop is run by a guy called kieth who happens to be a boater he moors close by my boat in the marina and he is out on his boat Misty Dawn at every opportunity,and he knows his stuff on boat equipment,the best thing about buying gas oil from Sawley is it is FRESH no water from condensation as the tanks are under ground and they sell huge ammounts per day,this is important for boaters who have diesel fired c/heating systems with very fine jets.You may pay a little more per litre but it is the best for your boat.Try stopping at Sawley one day and have a walk around it has everything you could want,so the morale of this story is dont knock it till youve tried it!
