  1. Hi Sheila, It's about another 40 minutes from Drakeholes to RWBC. You don't need to phone there's a few boats out at the mo, which is why I'm there, so we'll certainly get you in. I'm off to the boat tomorrow so I can prewarn Doug. I donated an old Plasma screen to the club last year, they'll probably be showing the footie on that in the function room. I am REALLY no fan of football, so I fully intend hiding in the bar if that is the case, I'm hoping they'll be a few of us "heathens" in there! I'll PM you with my 'phone no. Give me a call if you need to know anything further. Other than that I look forward to meeting you. Lee
  2. Thanks Tim, took a look but the website doesn't appear to have been updated for a number of years. Lee
  3. I painted my boat last year with Synthetic Enamel paint bought from a car refinisher. Unfortunately some has got on my window frames and now I need to get it off. What's would be the best chemical for doing this, I've tried celulose thinners and that doesn't touch it. Nitromors? I don't want to damage the anodised finish so nothing that will be too abrasive, or chemically damaging. Your thoughts are apreciated. Lee
  4. There is a Co-op in Misterton, but that's only a few hundred yards from where you're setting off from, so that's no good at all! There is however a very good butchers there which may be of some interest. Retford is the next major population centre so that's your next opportunity. Not sure about Worksop, but would suggest that would probably be your last chance, save a couple of little shops along the way. Don't know what your plans are for your first night, but usually Drakeholes or the RWBC are where Tony's boats spend their first night. My wife and I will be in the club on Saturday night if you fancy a cheap pint and a warm welcome I can highly recommend it. If you decide to eat at the Brewers in the village I advise you to book soon. It is good and gets very busy. My boat is parked along the line at the RWBC, a blue boat with no name on her yet. I'm parked behind Firebird. We'll be at the boat all day, do look us up. Lee edit for double post!
  5. I'm looking for some old photo's of the Chesterfield Canal to frame (only at about postcard size) and hang on the boat. Particular interest in W. Stockwith basin, and what is now the RWBC club house. If anybody has got anything, and doesn't mind me reproducing it purely for the reasons above I wonder if they wouldn't mind posting them here. I am also constantly on the lookout for postcards of the Chesterfield. If anybody has any for sale or hears of any I would very much apreciate a heads up Lee
  6. Nice pic's Phylis, We're going down to Boston in August, looking forward to our first "Proper" cruise. Lee
  7. You'll not have trouble mooring on the Chesterfield, there's plenty of piled bits where it is deep enoug to get at least one end of the boat in. The club has spare moorings in the summer, though they do charge a little for there use, There are a couple of pubs with short term moorings. It is really pretty too, and the food at the Brewers in Clayworth is ace. Lee
  8. I bought one in Screwfix last year, came with a "wall wart" mains adapter, and also a cig lighter lead. They don't seem to do it anymore, but they do exist, so keep looking. Think mine was made by Energizer. Lee Actually a quick google search has brought up this, doesn't do 9v though. Lee
  9. How long did they last ? Lee
  10. It really was only used when I was fitting out in Rotherham. I had it connected to one of those B&D 30A battery chargers, topping up the domestics as the inverter was drawing from them to power the tools. It got a bit tricky to start in the end, but probably just wants a bit of a service. Very cheaply made and really just a disposable item, but it got me through the build. Reasonably noisy I should add. I would say certainly worth £30, maybe worth £60 but don't expect a Honda Lee
  11. If you're not desperate for it they keep popping up in B&Q I payed £30 for mine. I think they're usually a bit more than that though. Lee

  16. I've got a gulper, which is automatically switched by a Johnson electronic switch mounted in a sealed box from Maplin. Water from both the shower tray and wash hand basin (saved another hole in the side of the boat) drain into the box via skin fittings, the box fills and activates the pump, when the box empties the pump switches off. there are no mechanical parts, the switch is a proximity sensor, so nothing should "gunk" up Lee
  17. Oi. Keep your hands off! Lee
  18. Wayne, Take a look at the kit's http://www.dutch-barges.net/ Lee
  19. Be warned, the actual stock may not match the picture. Make sure the one's in store are correctly marked. Lee Be warned, the actual stock may not match the picture. Make sure the one's in store are correctly marked. Lee
  20. Echoed in most parts, but some updates on the current state of the pubs. The White Hart is definately the one to go for in Stockwith, for food and beer. If you stop at Clayworth (Retford and Worksop boat club) You MUST eat at the Brewers in the village, it's superb. Be warned though, you do need to book. The other pub in the village, the Blacksmiths Arms, is currently closed. The boat club is open Wed, Fri and Sat evenings, and lunchtime Sunday. You will get a warm welcome and the beer is criminally cheap. The Boat at Hayton wasn't very good in the summer, which was a shame because it used to be ace. The Hop Pole, and The Gate, are currently closed, though work is going on at The Gate, so it may be reopening soon. In Retford, I can highly recommend the "Rum Runner" Great real ale pub with a good atmosphere. It's a shame the notice is so short. I'm taking Helena from W.Stockwith to Clayworth on Saturday, on my own. You could have joined me for the trip! Lee

  23. I think that is a product of de-interlacing, though I'm not going to argue about the image being a composite, Lee
  24. We have a memory foam matress, from Makro, it's like sleeping on a cloud! I was able to cut it myself with a special foam blade for my jigsaw, bought from screwfix. The join (at about 2' is not noticeable when the bed is made. The bed itself is a fold down "flap" which in the day is hooked neatly under the gunwhale, with the small part of the mattress on top of the other part to form a day sofa. It all works very well, and because it wasn't a specific boat mattress it was only £150 (from Makro) Lee
