When we came through on Wednesday they were clearly still having trouble with it - the doors didn't want to open.

We're hoping to do this ring from Tewkesbury in the next couple of weeks, with too many people to sleep - anyone have any advice about overnight moorings with somewhere to pitch a tent nearby? (or possibly B&Bs?)

One of them yelled at us on the Avon once ("boats pass each other keeping to the right") as we passed on the correct side, with a gap of about 4 feet between boats - I wasn't sure if she wanted even more room, if she didn't know right from left, or if she just wanted to yell at us because she thought we were a hire boat and therefore less important than her.

Well I suppose you're right - what we really mean is "what the $%£^ did you call us for?" but practically speaking what difference does it make? Whether you are mildly unwell with flu or with a cold, you're still mildly unwell and can reasonably care for yourself, barring other medical complications. If you are really knocked off your feet, aching all over, raging temperature, then you might have a number of complaints which start with "flu-like symptoms" - still, most are likely to be viral and can be reasonably managed at home by those who are normally healthy. From a GPs point of view, triaging those who might need hospitalisation or further help can probably reasonably done by the response Romarni's brother got.

First night on my boat I discovered how easy it was to break in, after I locked myself out. Never thought the old "plastic card through the gap and give a shove (or a large boot)" would do the trick in real life but it did. Haven't increased the security though - we tend to work on the basis of shabby boat/don't leave stuff in view/don't have much valuable stuff aboard.

There's a bit of flu about around here, but there are also a lot of heavy colds masquerading as flu. A doctor I know recommends that people ask themselves what they would do if they saw a dropped £20 across the road - if they would drag themselves off their sickbed to get it, it's a cold, not flu.

About an hour, home to boat. About 1/2 hour, boat to work in the opposite direction, which is the point, really.
