  2. Saw these at the Cheshire show recently. It was a hot Day and they seemed to be selling well. not sure if ok for cats though. http://www.dfordog.co.uk/thermlow-dog-cooling-vest.html
  3. We run the floating art gallery Artism Afloat on the Bridgewater.

  5. There are no narrowboats on bude canal, it is only a short stretch, the only boat you will find are paddle boats, so that is ruled out
  6. A G clamp would work fine to move the boat. I do have some stud extractors that do not need a pilot hole, they drill in anti clockwise and grip the stud, work ok if stud not too tight. I could drop them off if you need them. If you need a clamp I have several sizes that would fit. Do know someone who was in same situaton and used a clamp left it on for over a year with no problems .
  7. I had a cheaper one set on fire last month luckily I noticed it very quickly.
  8. i use these rollers toolstation decoroy 4" roller sleeves, they do not fall to pieces with bitumen. The 4inch roller code is 81477 a little more expensive but you will find they do not fall to bits . they are made for marine and solvents
  9. we had a similar problem with our dog, it was only if another dog came near the cruiser deck . I found it was because we had his food bowls on the deck and he did not want another dog near them. Took them away and it was back to normal.
  10. Just thought I would like to share with you the fact that we have passed the 1,000 visitor mark for our floating art gallery. We now support over 30 artists from across the country who are on the Autistic spectrum. If you are passing Our boat Jenny may on the Bridgewater canal usually around Sale or Lymm call in for a look. Happy days
  11. I had a similar set up on my first boat. when I had the problem of low water flow I checked the weed filter and it looked clear so I removed the impeller and it was ok. The cause was a bag was partially blocking the inlet at bottom of boat. I would check weed filter if that is clear leave filter out and open the sea cock to make sure you have a good flow(open it slowley and you can close it in plenty of time before boat would sink). If you have a good flow go to impeller. If you do not have a good flow I used to rod out from filter to bottom of boat with a bottle cleaning brush. You have to be quick and ready to close off the tap when the blockage clears.
  12. you should take up this offer, you will regret it if you dont especially as they will probably catch you up anyway. some of the locks on the nine are a bugger
  13. I am working saturday morning , depending where you get to in the afternoon may be able to help on some of the ashton
  14. These are not great locks to be doing by yourself on a first voyage. When you find out when you are moving it may be worth seeing if anyone is around to lend a hand or maybe going up with another boat
  15. For that much money we could run our art gallery for a lot more than 3 years. It costs us around 3 grand a year but then we dont pay any wages. No wonder I am always skint. @artismafloat
  16. Did Jan have a studio at Vernon mill. I sure I recognise the work and name.
  17. Take a look at our websites we have a gallery on a boat, We promote artists on the autistic spectrum. When they come out on the boat painting we see a big difference in their confidence. I am sure that will give you some inspiration http://artismuk.webs.com/ twitter artismafloat
  18. Dean have you checked if it is working. There is no point in stripping it down if it is working. You can do this with some jump leads. if the starter fires then jsut clean up as burgiesburning has already stated
  19. I would have the centre line so I could reach it from the tiller to step off the boat but not too long that if it falls over the side it can reach the prop. Beaten to it
  20. It makes sense then if it from the proceeds of crime the money should go to the biggest criminals the government. It may help them pay for a few more of their bills to keep them warm this winter
  21. I passed this boat a couple of years ago, I am sure the yellow poles held the TV Ariel. I remember thinking at the time it was a lot of engineering for what it did. still it must work for them.
  22. If you around sale on bridgewater canal this weekend the artism gallery is at Walton park. We have a new exhibition showing for the first time with some fantastic paintings. All artists are on the autistic spectrum and some will be on boat to talk about their artwork. We have had the gallery open over 5 weekends and have had 476 visitors. Some of the artists are getting commissions and are selling paintings giving them lots of confidence. You can follow our progress on twitter @artismafloat. You do not have to have a twitter account to look.
  23. I will be meeting up with one of the previous owners of Rensol at the weekend if you have any questions you want me to ask him drop me a PM.
  24. There was a boat booked in for the dry dock and a surveyor to do the job for another customer who was on holiday so the survey could be put off until the next week and I could have their slot if I contacted the surveyor and he agreed to carry out the survey.(my surveyor could not make it on the day) It was a good thing for them as they would get my money quicker and it helped me as I would not buy the boat until I knew the hull was ok. I had to pay for the dry dock and surveyor although he did knock off £50 as he thought it was a good cause for the art gallery. They did indeed give me £500 they did not need to. We were also lucky enough to have the previous owners son come to look at an exhibition on the boat so he then took us through all the electrics and switches etc which was a great help.
  25. I bought our gallery boat Jenny may from venetian last September. I had no problems with any part of the sale I only paid the deposit when I knew I wanted the boat and yes it was only returnable if the survey through up something that would seriously affect the price. I prefer to have the keys given to me to look around myself then if needed the salesman had no problem coming out with me.I would also prefer to see a boat as it is rather than tarted up as you know then how it has been treated and what work you would have to do to bring it up to your standard. I was struggling to get a surveyor and the dry dock in the timescale I needed due to the Dutton breach and stoppages at Marple needed to complete the deal quickly. They arranged for me to swap with a slot they had booked for another boat and told me who the surveyor was going to do the survey and I managed to get the survey completed. I had agreed a price and was on my way to pay the deposit when they phoned me to say the sellers would knock off another £500 if it helped get the deal moving, the broker knew I was on my way at this time so did not have to let me know this. I can only say as I found and am not connected in any way. The gallery is doing very well we have had over 500 visitors and our artists are getting much more benefits than just the artwork follow us @artismafloat
