  1. BW can and sometimes do get arsy with boats that aren't moving round the system. Take the risk you can only lose your boat or be asked to move from bW waters. Would you buy a camper and expect to park it in various car parks around one area? Sue
  2. Or I don't like that tatty boat moored there. They are living on it I will report them to the council. Another homeless boater. Sue
  3. I've been on holiday for 20 years Sue
  4. I liked the advert for Adopt a pig for a christmas present. You get to eat it after you have watched its progress. Sue

    Biomagic

We've used blue, green, potty toddy tabs (anyone remember them?), yeast and nothing at all. Bio Magic works!!! I agree with Tony we have only a small outlet a large tank, hence a build up of smell. But Bio Magic works!!! Sue

    B & Q

My local council won't give me a bus pass cause it gets withdrawn if you don't use it & I am hardly ever there to use it. I did get a pink card when I retired from the nice pension people. Sue
  7. We have a Rayburn and two radiators in a 58' boat and many times it is barely warm enough. I now have warm feet though. I bought an ecofan. Sue
  8. Boat builders with problems have been known to show the same boat to several buyers as their boat. So seeing a boat doesn't mean it's yours. Sue

  10. I think the SOW website died with Mike Stevens. The meeting is 1st Dec 11am at the Blackhorse pub Main street Foxton. If you email Will on (abreviated narrowboat)quidditch@dsldotpipexdotcom he will send aggenda and map. hope you can work out email address Sue
  11. See you at the SOW meeting on saturday. Sue

I do. That's how I know Warwickshire won't do it. We did get a free smoke alarm from someone. Sue

    Fire

Only if you are resident in the area, not if you are just passing through.
  14. BW isn't responsible for people choosing to live on boats. If you want to continuously cruise, go for it. If you don't you can only blame yourself for the position you are in. BW don't have to provide moorings. Sue
  15. The number of times I have heard that. I don't support a user group because they don't suit me! Nabo was formed as an action group. If it isn't now, join and make it how you want it. It is very easy to become chairman as no one wants the job. People would rather talk about action rather than doing any. Sue
  16. I thought I had kept my identity fairly secret then 'two' members came up and introduced themselves! Sue

    Old Age

Some cope well, some badly. We have known elderly people on sinking boats because their investments haven't kept up with inflation. Boat maintenance is expensive. Keep the house, let it out, get lodgers. Sue
  18. Well that is now 287 votes and I don't want a mooring. When do you think BW will start to get worried? Sue
  19. You don't stand a snowball in hells chance until boaters attitudes change. How many boaters support a user group? Until boaters learn to stick together BW/ government will walk all over us. Sue
  20. The Boaters Phone company are the experts and will sort you out with a compatible system. Sue
  21. The best steerers on our boat have been daughter when she was 11/12 ish and truck drivers. The latter pick it up straight away and don't touch the sides when entering a single lock. If girls pick up steering easily why do men steer boats leaving the women to do the hard work? Sue
  22. we have a plastic tank. No cleaning ;no painting; no strange tastes. Sue
  23. If it's for a hobby- go for it. If it is for a home think twice. There is no security of tenure and hardly any residential moorings. Ok if you move around the country but not if you want to stay in one area. A house makes a much better investment. Sue
  24. Going along the Thames this summer someone had an accident caused by the gunge on the lock ladders. Four lock keepers were discussing how to clean them, the fith had got a preasure washer and was doing the job! Sue
