  1. If stats software isn't included on Jon's account I'm sure he could use third party software.. I don't think he has the time at the mo, though! What sort of information would you like to view Sam?
  2. I would of thought the engine was a pretty important peice of equipment myself, LOL if it is in the wrong place I'm sure one of the forum admins will shift it for you
  3. Dan.. What was the cruiser called? And, nice of you to offer assistance instead of shouting and cursing like most probably would!
  4. Dan, are you at Preston Book for the IWA? although that isn't until the end of August. Where are you heading for next? I'll give you a wave if you come past my moorings
  5. If you don't like the smell of cow sh*t, don't live in the country!!
  6. Some sort of stats would be very interesting. See how many are looking at the site at which times of the day etc. You can usually access stats such as Webalizer and AWstats which are available through your control panel which is provided with your hosting account, although this information is normally only accessible by the account holder.

    Windlasses

I've got sets of keys to a few boats on the moorings where I keep my boat, plus the BW key, and keys to actually get on the moorings etc so I know for a fact that the cork ball won't float. They have 'fallen in' before, and was rather easy to get them out.. the cork ball floats above the mud.. all you need is a rake. The cord from the ball to the key ring fits nicely in the space between the teeth on the rake, making them easily salvaged. The cork ball stops the whole lot from slipping through the rake's teeth. Only down side with this is that you need a rake if you drop them in, and on rivers etc, the rake might not be long enough. Works on the cut for me though

  19. If it is correct, would be interesting to find out what size prop it's swinging and how much fuel it uses.
  20. Most of you would have probably already seen this, but for those of you who haven't... http://www.narrowboatworld.com/NBW__z-Broadband.htm Looks promising!

    Bridgewater Canal

I've only had my boat for a year and a bit on the Bridgewater but my parents boat has been on it since '99. I've only ever seen workboats tied up, no maintenance at all has been carried out as far as I'm aware. There's a boat called Water Womble who you can see out and about now and again when the weather's nice... the guy has a nice big fishing net and scoops all of the ugly bits of floating rubbish off the top of the cut.. as he's floating (JUST!) over the shopping trolleys, road cones, fridges, beds.. the lot. I appreciate that every canal has rubbish in it but I have never seen any sort of maintenance, or dredging being carried out on the Bridgewater. After they had completed the new 'Stretford Marina' I tried to take my boat down the cut to have a look. I had rope, a coat and some bags on the prop on the way back and a length of wood which was about 6 inches thick/6 foot long(ish) wedged passed the skeg, beside the rudder, through the prop and wedged up the weedhatch. It's a good job it's only a 30ft boat.. I was able to stop it in time before I wiped out a cruiser moored up minding its own business... Took me several attempts and a helluva lot of patience to eventually get it off but luckily no damage to the boat. So much to say and not enough web space to say it all
  22. The three tunnels at the top end of the T&M have those handy chains attatched to the wooden 'rubbing strake' things just above the waterline. Very handy to tie upto whilst you put the kettle on and wait for the person who doesn't have the right of way to move/reverse out. Shame you can't watch the TV or listen to the radio lol.
