  1. The gallery "thumbnails" are the same size as the images that pop up...... And the whole thing with the background image moving round with the mouse pointer is horrible.....
  2. Just hard to use in the rain, and pretty catastrophic if it gets wet..
  3. You can return - but he wants to take money off you - how did he try to collect it? You can return, but not for free....
  4. I just emailed both Peel Holdings and C&RT specifically mentioning the situation over the Liverpool Link and I will post the replies here when I get them,
  5. How are they going to collect it? Man with a mobile card scanner? Or is it going to be a requirement that you carry cash, or even one of those obsolete cheque book things, if you wish to traverse the Bridgewater
  6. The regs for lights on canal boats used to specifically state that they musn't put out a bright tight beam (i,.e. a focussed spot) but should put out a wide beam .. I don't think we still have the BW stuff from when our boat was built 30 years ago.
  7. Bright lights on the front of vehicles can actually make them less visible in certain circumstances....
  8. Yup - it illustrates the problem perfectly and its madness..
  9. Liverpool Link is open all days apart from Tuesdays Leigh Bridge to Salthouse Dock and back is : 87 miles, 1½ furlongs and 28 locks So You need to be at Lydiate Winding hole the evening before you head into the docks which will get you in in the afternoon So a couple of days in the docks... Then you leave first thing in the morning and get out to somewhere down Downholland We're doing a day and a bit in Liverpool later this year: http://canalplan.org.uk/journey/6196_cp
  10. 10 to 14 days later? Where on earth are they going? Or is that assuming that they'll use the full 7 days allowed moorings in Salthouse Dock?
  11. It's especially effective on a cold miserable morning - put the extractor fan on for added effect, oh and mugs of hot steaming freshly brewed real coffee....
  12. I've seen those too. The fishing matches on the Shroppie can be a bit OTT at times. We just tend to cook lots of bacon and sausages for sandwiches and eat them as we go past..
  13. I've had one request to have a boat removed as he claimed I had no right to have it on the listing : I replied that the information was obtained from the Navigation Authority under a freedom of information act and is public data obtainable by anyone and it contains NO personal data. Also that if it was incorrect then he needed to inform the appropriate Nav Auth There were two situations involving the Boat Index when Jim had it : Firstly a few years ago when the EA refused to give out boat names and it was ruled by the Information Commissioner that they must provide this information under the FOI and it is data that is basically in the Public Domain. Then when his hosting company pulled his site due to letters from one boat owner Jim had to get solicitors involved before the site was restored. One of the reasons I changed the "last registered" information was that I did not want people using the Boat Listing to see if boats were currently licensed. Steve
  14. No safety cert.... I assume its in a marina or something? I like the idea that you are buying a hull and an engine even though the engine is non functional.
  15. Ours used to be like that but as they were basically at the same level as the filler we had to make them taller so that they couldn't vent fuel and stop any auto cut off on the filling pump from triggering.
  16. I don't think its the end of old news, I suspect its the continuation of old news...
  17. Interesting set of creditors - Quorn Marina Properties owe Quorn Marina Holdings Ltd (Same directors) 399K and Pillings Lock Marina Limited 1.6 Million.
  18. Indeed I do - its come along way since I coded version 1.0 back in the early 1980s Don't forget that if data is missing then you can add it. There's long term plans to introduce "Pinch Points" but like enhanced POI (which I'm currently working on) its something that will need good data to make it work
  19. Not sure what you found as Canalplan is totally online.... and the only thing to download would be an exported route or a PDF.
  20. It's even more impressive at night with fireworks running up the fire escapes...... We still have the bright yellow mug we got on that cruise into the docks...
  21. I assume that Salthouse Dock is as far as you can go even though there seems to be through navigation to Coburg Dock.... or is the fixed bridge at the end of Salthouse too low?
  22. The bridge at Aintree (and I think Bridge 6 as well ) is only open at two specific times of day - once in the morning and then once in the afternoon. We're planning on stopping back at Lydiate and going in from there. Passage into the docks starts at 13:00 at the top of Stanley Locks. Lots of details, plus documentation and forms here: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/canal-and-river-network/liverpool-canal-link Max stay in Salthouse Dock is 7 days
  23. Doesn't seem to be any boat under that name (or similar) on the boat index so that suggests if she's been re-named she got renamed several years ago.
  24. That was what I was thinking too - and as others have said why make a big story of this one single occurance
