Never saw a sign, or a person. Came down from the locks and tied up on the first mooring, place looks on it's arse. I really don't see why anyone would mind if you pulled up late and left early.
-
I pulled up there last night and was away before 6am this morning. There was plenty of room but I had to clear the weeds and fag ends to find the mooring rings.

Just topside (Fradley) of Streethay I'm being polite, the sign definitely isn't. If I was on a family holiday with young kids I wouldn't be happy. Personally I'm more concerned about the pile of crap that will be left behind when he eventually moves/sinks.
-
I don't think it had an engine.. In fact most of the knackered old cruisers don't appear to have an engine. Maybe they have one that's shared around once a year when they actually decide to move.
-
Has anyone passed Streethay Wharf lately and seen the knackered Dawncraft with it's adjacent boat size pile of crap on the towpath, including a lovely homemade sign saying "SLOW DOWN CUN#? I'm not entirely sure someone bending the rules as such can expect a sedate, tick over pass by. Or can they?

Hopefully "kind George" will have got the message by now as my partner posted on the group chat with the name of Lady G's boat and a screenshot I sent her from here explaining what had happened.
-
I don't do Facebook either, it's on a local Todmorden thing. Chat, group, page.. whatever it's called.

I've used Araldite 2000 for similar jobs which is a two part epoxy developed for bonding metal and aluminium parts in industry. I heard they use it for bonding structural parts on new cars, so you should be safe enough with it. It doesn't come in little tubes in a box like normal Araldite, but you can get away without buying the special application gun with mixing nozzle.

I know because I have read the post on Facebook. Apologies, there's no mention of the basket being taken, just the cat. Hope that clears everything up.
-
Someone took the cat and basket thinking it had been abandoned. Messages have been sent on the local Facebook group, hopefully all will be good again soon.

Hardly legitimate activity then. Any boater that leaves their crap behind deserves naming and shaming. Then drowning.

The beer was appalling last time I called in. The "sample jars" in front of the pumps looked exactly like what most beer drinkers produce first thing in the morning. All three full of cloudy opaque liquid, not changed in days, possibly weeks. All three beers - yes I did stupidly try them! were like vinegar. One was aptly called Penicillin. A helpful local pointed out that I'd be needing some if I drank any. Why have 3 pumps on if you can't look after one?

The summit is a good walk from Todmorden! Take your own refreshments though, the pub is crap.

If you're still there at the weekend I'll have that new year drink! Sorry I missed your invitation at the time, I was laid up and rather ill. I prefer the Fox, bit quieter than the Golden Lion.

Yes, but that depends on what you bought and from who. If you're lucky enough to be floating around in a Dave Harris, Ian Kemp, Steve Priest etc.. you can rightly presume it was built by the blokes own hands.
-
I remember years ago when looking for my boat seeing one advertised as "built by one of Steve Hudson's fabricators" There's also a well known Northern chap on here with a boat built from various bits over several weekends at J.Wilsons yard in Sheffield, by an employee. I don't believe it was ever sold as a Wilson shell though.
-
But then let him put a plaque on it?!
-
I don't think it applies in this case but I always think some fitters take the pi55 with their signage. I've seen "totally handbuilt by xyz boatbuilders" when all they do is fit someone else's shell out. You think they'd be proudly saying it's a Davis shell, which it obviously is. Unless someone has really gone to town and built a replica - including the plaque!
-
Came across this strange advert on the duck today, anyone know what's going on? It definitely looks like an RW Davis Trader, it says it is in the usual places but whoever is selling wants to make quite clear that it's not! It's not a Barry Hawkins clone. Or a Tyler Wilson Trader (whatever that is).
