  4. ok. 1. whereas msw inverters don't play nicely with transformer based power supplies, because of the harmonics, they are generally fine with the switched mode ones that drive modern electronics ( as alan says ) 2. no-one is going to measure the current on the 230V side of an inverter unless they have a specific goal and the knowledge to match and even then what's the point? no electronic device (especially a tv) uses a constant amount of power so you're as well reading the sticky label. 3. i intensely dislike posts with categoric statements about things they know little about and even less how to explain them properly.
  5. fine. no skin off my nose.
  6. I wouldn't expect Alan to understand this. It's not like he actually read the thread. There is so much wrong with this post that it's best just ignored.
  7. why would you leave an inverter on standby?

  17. Just one point to add. It's very easy for soot to built up behind, on top of a baffle plate. So much so that, on London Boaters, you get the occasional picture of a flue removed and the hole literally full of soot. If you can move your flue pipe, pull it up off the top of the stove and have a look from that angle, you should be able to see what's behind the baffle. If you can't then wriggle your hand over and behind it from the inside and pull out any crud. Simply cleaning the chimney from above will tend to fill this space with more soot.
  18. I have never had this question. The relevant question is AFAIR "where is the vehicle normally kept overnight?". (my bold) Maybe it's in the terms and conditions but it's never been a question.

  21. I wasn't putting forward a business plan, simply pointing out the gross income pa on part of the income stream was 6% of the capital investment which is not a bad starting place. As has been pointed out £200 is a vast under-estimate of the earnings potential that near london. Plus there's the wooden huts and the possibility of a boatyard. If you have £11m to invest, I'd be happy to put together a more detailed feasibility study and business plan. Shall we say an initial consultancy fee of 5%?

  24. £11m seems a bit of a bargain with 315 boat berths that at £200 a month is £720,000 a year gross.
