  1. CRT's definition of boat length, in the licence T&Cs, says: ‘Boat Length’ means the length overall of the Boat. This includes permanently fixed fenders as reasonably needed to be used when the Boat is moored or moving. It also includes any bowsprits, boarding ladders, davits including their loads, out drives, rudders, anchors, pulpits, push pits and any other extensions of the Boat. So removable fenders do not count.
  2. For non-liveaboards, items taken between house and boat should be covered by the all risks section of the house contents policy, though it is worth checking that higher value items are within any 'maximum per item' limit.

  4. In general, PO users pay for a service whereby someone else pumps their shit out. There are a few places where a charge is levied for cassette emptying but that is without any service element.
  5. It may be that some of the associated drain piping is too small (or perhaps partially blocked) to cope with a large amount of sewage quickly.
  6. I think it is a good idea to measure one's boat when a suitable opportunity arises as discrepancies may be more common than you think particularly, perhaps, with older boats. Those having a pre-purchase survey can ask the surveyor to measure the boat but it doesn't seem to occur to many people. My boat club had a couple of examples of boats being longer than expected.

In my experience, some marinas do require boats to have a licence in their mooring agreements.
  8. The tank was fitted by my then marina. Unfortunately I cannot tell you the tank manufacturer.
  9. IanD your layout obviously has the main entrance at the rear of the boat, so it makes sense to have the bedroom at the bow. So I think you have agreed with me.
  10. Reverse layout seems to work well on semi-trad boats, especially those with a rarely opened cratch cover and main access through the rear doors. On a trad style boat with the engine at the back, the 'floating cottage' arrangement with the bedroom at the rear often suits better. I still think its to avoid having the bedroom by the main entrance.
  11. It's Ok, there isn't enough room for a fridge!

  13. Although with no fridge or TV to drain them, the need for battery power will be lower than on many boats.
  14. It's certainly cute. No fridge or space for one, and nearly all the storage space is in lockers.
  15. Yes, of course, but the information therein will be more useful when updated.
  16. Can you please tell the forum when the database has been updated.
  17. These payments are intended for 'households' that have not already received some money. So it depends if you have 'bricks and mortar' where you pay fuel bills.
  18. I think CRT use volunteers for tunnel bookings. Overall it's important to encourage fat boat owners to book their tunnel transit. This makes it more difficult to charge a booking fee or limit transits to, say, one per day. It used to be Fridays only, I don't know what happened to that. Half a dozen on the same day seems a bit excessive. On the other hand, having nine narrow boats delayed is not great for the majority population. It seems we narrowboaters have to give way to everyone else these days.
  19. Try Ryan, Jules Fuels, for Braunston area.
  20. You can still paint the topsides in a drained dry dock. A dryer environment may be helpful. Perhaps you thought a wet dock would cost less?

  22. I had more problems with my brand new boat than I did with one of my second hand purchases.
