  1. Laurence Sorry I agree with John. The ones at fault are those that put it up for sale at auction without, presumably, putting a reserve on it. If it is a new boat does it have any paperwork, RCD etc. this would reduce its value if not available. As to the buyer/boatyard being connected to Challenger then if you think there is 'fraud' taking place go to the correct authorities. I realise that being a creditor is not nice (an understatement) and wish you well in the future.
  2. Paul Get it surveyed before you buy it, if there are faults they will help in negotiations. A surveyor will also give you an opinion on the value of the boat, the cost of any repairs and guidance if you ask him to. What the ultrasound sound survey says is, that in 2006 the hull had a certain thickness, the amount of corrosion is dependant on how thick the steel was in the first place and how well it has been maintained. If the boat was 'blacked' then (2006) it is now due, approximately every two years is the advice. The BSC only says that in 2007 (test date) the boat complied with the testing requirements, it does not mean it is now compliant. As to contacting the original owner, give it a go, the worse that can happen is he tells you to go away. Sorry no advice on moorings.
  3. You can watch the movie, it has been on here before.
  4. Welcome Paul. Start the engine and go for a cruise.
  5. Alan You are correct but some people need to be protected against themselves. A pilot light in itself is not dangerous if there is proper ventilation and maintenance.

  12. Not qualified to be able to comment but a thought if it is 'over engineered' it may make it better on belt and bearing wear.

  17. I am grateful that my daughter learnt the value of money very quickly (good teacher ) she has a credit card but only uses it to her advantage, not the card company. 0% interest at the moment, bill will be paid, before end the period and the card then cancelled. She is now teaching her new partner and he is coming round and seeing sense.

  19. I cannot check any TV's but some transformers (bricks) that appear to be 240v to 12v are not 240v AC to 12v DC but 240v AC to 12v AC. I expect but do not know if this is a potential problem.
  20. This has been answered (by greater minds than me) but why not re-use the existing isolator on the positive side of at least one bank. Of course you may well have already thought of this.
  21. I doubt you would get a dribble in either, auto shut off pumps do not like restrictions, also the supplier would not be a happy person if filling took a long time.
  22. I think the man from Ledgard, He say no. Thanks Gary for the explanations etc.
  23. Agreed. If you do not have a job, they will be more difficult to find we are in a recession, then how will you pay the boat loan. I suspect to get the loan you will need to have a permanent address and proof that you are able to afford it. When you have the job you will know the area to start looking for a mooring, the boat can be bought and brought from anywhere in the country and cruised to its new place of 'residence'.
  24. Screwfix http://www.screwfix.com/prods/31593/Sealan...ue-Silicone-Red it is red though.
  25. Hi Mike Panasonic 32" LCD full HD specification. but I do not think that is what you mean. 'Graded goods' tends to mean that there are cosmetic faults as per 'B' grade white goods, generally a dent or scratch. I would check with the individual seller, about guarantees, repairs and why it is not 'A' grade. etc.
