  1. Hi Greybeard You have probably realised this but work systematically remove and clean all connections (electrical), remake all connections securely and coat with something to reduce the the possibility of deterioration, Vaseline would be OK. As Terry said give it a good burn, if it does not improve get the unit serviced. Good luck.
  2. Stewey Thank you for the new link.
  3. Or, buy some decent wet weather gear.
  4. JonJon Welcome to the forum, yes, do a search (top right) Just one note, a generator may only be used between the hours of 08:00 Hrs to 20:00 Hrs. Having said that a suitable generator would reduce wear on your engine when charging your batteries from a '3 stage' charger.
  5. Almost there it acts a link, there appears to be an missing from the front. In Photobucket they give you the code to post a picture in a forum, just left click on the correct one, this will copy it then paste in your post. Edit: it is the bottom one 'IMG Code'
  6. This is not very helpful but there used to be one called www.446user.co.uk, it does not appear to be now available. Note: these 'walkie talkies' are also known as PMR 446.
  7. Check the voltages at the heater, this will tell you the voltage the heater is actually getting to start it. I suspect that you have a volt drop and the extra, when engine running, is enough to overcome it.
  8. Gentlemen I was a little tongue in cheek when I threw in the micro bore. I have it in this house it works well but from choice I would no fit it.
  9. Batteries flat, minuscule charging, using batteries, minuscule charging result flat batteries. Batteries are not being charged, they will need hours and hours to get them back.
  10. My solution, boat in build, two totally separate tanks. The generator (7Kw) and heating (Erbaspacher) will be connected to one, will declare 100% when filling. Second tank for propulsion will declare a %, not decide how much, as this will also provide light and hot water.
  11. I arrived here two minutes ago, read from post#1 only to find Alan has asked my question.
  12. I will throw this in How about a micro bore system with each radiator separately plumbed back to a manifold.
  13. A quick search on google found that charcoal burns at 1100° C about five times that of wood, coal burns at 300° C. So there may be a problem with it being too 'hot'. Perhaps a mixture coal/charcoal would be all right but I distance myself from advising it.
  14. Seven pages of discussion on two wrongs, perhaps we can find a right. First wrong: Boater in situation, boat with no power on a river, does not deploy his anchor. Second wrong: Passing boat does not give assistance. The right:?? The original boater would not put himself into danger in the first place, perhaps not always possible but should be able to cope with the situation. (I am sure that if the situation occurred again he would deal with it differently, that's experience) All passing boaters would be Good Samaritans, ideal but not possible.
  15. Well I bow to greater knowledge, Did not think of a pipe between the inlet and in the outlet.
  16. Hi I cannot think of any advantage in connecting radiators in 'series', one disadvantage is that you lose control of individual radiators. For example if you turned off the first radiator all the radiators would be off. I can understand your concern for your baby but many babies over hundreds of years have been raised without central heating, they are very tough little people. Our own daughter was raised in a cottage that the only heating was the wood burner in the 'front room'. She had no heating in her bedroom, neither did we, all that heating in a bedroom does is reduce the amount of bedclothes required and with modern duvets even that is reduced now. We still do not heat our bedroom although we now have central heating, new house.
  17. I tend towards agreement with you but...................................did you not reply with a blast from your horn?
  18. I am clutching at straws here, how can a 20 psi pump 'lift' the PRV, I am guessing the PRV is greater than 20 psi about 1.3 bar. Note: no qualifications and probably talking out of my posterior.
  19. If you want BW. Waterways Dimensions go to http://www.waterscape.com/things-to-do/boa...seful-downloads and on the left under plan a cruise, thee you will find it. It is a .doc so will need to be downloaded and opened in 'Office' or similar.
  20. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  21. The advice above is correct, radiators are plumbed across the flow and return, trying not to confuse you, radiators are plumbed as you would connect batteries in parallel. When the system is completed and all the air bled out you will need to 'balance' the radiators. On each radiator you will have the on/off valve at the other end is the valve that 'balances' the radiator/system.
  22. Hi Jude There are security problems, exactly as there are with a house. There is no such thing as total security but you knew that, all you can do is make it more difficult for the thief etc. and make them move on to the next one. As for alarms/tracking devices, yes they do exist, I cannot advise on them as not used one but those designed for cars would do.
  23. Hi Sorry to throw another couple of points: I am guessing you have a mortgage, so you will need permission of the mortgage company to let the property, then it will be 'buy to let' and the charges/interest will be higher, if they give permission. If you do rent it out there will also be an income tax liability but an accountant may help there. If you are to be a liveaboard and not move, you will need a residential mooring and this will probably be liable for Council Tax.
  24. I do not take credit for this, only what I learnt on here. If engine mounts are loose, do not tighten 'down' (top nut) but tighten 'up' the lower nut.
  25. Without retracting my previous post. I agree if this boat had been in a marina/brokerage it would have sold for more but it was not, it was placed in and auction. Proviso: If all paperwork was correct. The value of the boat was that, that someone was willing to pay, at that moment. If there has been 'wrong doing' contact the authorities.
