  8. Based on the value of scrap steel quoted above, the idea that any one could make a profit from removing sunken boats is laughable. The cost of refloating, towing to a suitable location and then craning out and road transport to a scrap yard would be far in excess of the value of the scrap.

  10. Yes that sounds about right from CRT POV. Easier for them to dispose of boats that way with no hassle. It does mean that anything with a resale value goes into the trade and by the looks of the boats Commercial Boat Services of Chester are selling the public gets offered the stuff the trade don't want. presumably the trade sales are done on a sealed bid basis. I doubt CRT make any profit from boat sales when contractors recovery costs etc have been paid for, never mind the lost licence fees and legal costs.
  11. "limited pool of bidders " is that another way of saying mates in the trade?

  13. I'd of thought that there are are more chancers building boats because of the rise of leisure boating. Fleet operators know what they want etc private individuaLs looking for a floating home/caravan are in the dark about boat building.

  22. Tipton is still for sale http://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-for-sale/property-46365404.html
  23. You said that your group were going to do some carrying of spoil but you didn't get the job. CRT used contractors instead, how did they remove the spoil?
  24. It means that I have read your posts about canalscape BCN and they have answered my question about your groups' status. ie it's not a charity/trust but you and your boat with a few friends who help out. Your posts also say why you haven't got any work. ie CRT don't give you anything you want to do.
