  1. sorry Alan. that's just not the way it works. try the search I did. you'll return a dozen news journals worldwide ( not just the narrow world of the canal system ) and each of those carries, almost verbatim, the same story with the same words with no acknowledgement. in fact you'd be hard pushed to trace the original source. amongst them the Independent and the Guardian. but I don't see you venting spleen their way. as I say, you have a grudge against NBW so see only the evidence that's suits your agenda. which to my mind makes you just as culpable. as for those who say ' I'm not reading it because it must be crap' .... how childish (literally) can you get ?
  2. people bleat in about narrowboatworld plagarism because it suits their agenda not because they are at all concerned about the probity of online journalism. The Internet is based on retailing and retweeting, news stories paraphrased or lifted completed. press releases reproduced verbatim. I did a search yesterday for news stories about Laila Bint Abdul Muttalib Basim. all I found was one story reproduced in journals covering most of the world. it's the way it works, get used to it.
  3. door offset = cruiser stern springer.
  4. it would be interesting to come up with a source for those.

  7. a half-size 'replica' of a Thames Barge. Lovingly maintained by its owner. an interesting, dry and comfy boat. http://apolloduck.com/advert.phtml?id=393049 (it would be good to post a picture but I can't link on the phone - would someone do the honours?)

  15. or but a subscription to the Aberdeen journal. it wouldnt let me read it. just as well really as the last thing I need is £1 worth of fishing boat.
  16. don't ever ever break a joint by using something metal as a prybar between the jointing surfaces you will damage the surfaces and you will distort the jointing faces and it will leak.
  17. it's strange, no. there's this incredibly effective organisation safeguarding and restoring some of britain's most valued historical structure that has evolved a system over 100 years is loved, respected, well-funded and popular and then there's CRT. why there is so much resistance to the NT model escapes me.
  18. unintentionally perhaps but in pretty poor taste. should we tell jokes about your divorce ?

  21. That's an uncharacteristically nasty post from you Laurie.
  22. Indeed. It seems just because it's on narrowboatworld it gets dismissed without thought. By the very people who have espoused this two things many times on here; "I am also looking forward to the day when the Trust has a paying membership. One which the Trust must also be answerable to. When members of council are elected from the Trust membership. I am looking forward to the day when all the significant boating associations also have representatives on council, to help provide some insider knowledge, balance between various associations, clarity and direction." This too seemed to get general agreement when debated on here, especially from one Fincher, A "I am looking forward to our elected representatives reporting back on the first three years of their tenure in office. I can't wait to hear of their individual lists of personal goals and achievements 'on the job' so to speak."
  23. ah, a community mooring. I seem to be remember you were vociferously against those in London. but here you are taking advantage of one and singing their praises. a mite hypocritical mr vagabond?
  24. you need a specialist company with the right kit and expertise. 8 foot is not for the amateur. send a PM to Marcus on the other thread to find out who the team were. or Google 'marine salvage'. this site will talk it round and round but once completely under the water it's a dangerous and specialised job.
