  1. I never knew that Brecon was in Newport until you introduced two words into the press report.
  2. ............. and if you can convert them to pen and ink appearance we can colour them in.

  11. I always rock the cylinder from side to side and it is easy to feel the weight of the "gas" as it slops around. When the slopping is hardly evident it is time to have a replacement cylinder at the ready.
  12. just fill it with any old car body filler and get on with your life. Torque about a storm in a teacup!

  16. I ordered a 57ft sailaway from Scouse Boat Company. When I visited to check on progress the cabin top was fitted to the hull, windows cut out and all. The window locations seemed to be rather odd - measuring from the front of the cabin they were right but measuring from the back they were 4ft too far forward. I decided to measure the hull - it was 61ft long!! The workshop foreman glibly said "oh that's OK, we'll call this boat a stock boat and start afresh". The speed at which they turned out boats meant that the delay to building my 57ft hull was only 10 days.
  17. well let us be constructive for a moment. for starters, let the boat be named "Dreamboat"
  18. the only real hazard is the result of failing to turn right into Netham Lock when travelling downstream.
  19. not forgetting Vehicle Wiring Products for all things 12 volt related.
  20. it might be relevant to check the number of posts made by the "negative" minded posters and then the number of posts made by those who wear rose-coloured glasses.
  21. where will you find an "onshore electric link" when you are continuously cruising (sorry - when you are shuffling around every 14 days) ?
  22. exactly - which is why there is little incentive for farmers to try to dissuade sheep from their tendency to try to commit hari kari by any one of many methods.
  23. I have cruised the Mon and Brec three times, from Goytre Wharf to Brecon and then south as far as the weed choked lagoons would allow. I assume from your comment that the entire length as far as the flight of five locks in the north has been dry on more than one occasion. That would not be a pleasant experience. Lovely as that canal is, any mooring on much of its length will never see much in the way of sunshine in view that the canal is located on a largely north east facing slope of the steep hills and in almost continual shade. As suggested in another post, after the initial thrill of staying on a boat has blended into familiarity you would be better off in a caravan near the canal, perhaps with a small boat to use for day trips when the Welsh weather allows.
