  1. I heard that you could introduce nitrogen to the boat interior which would mitigate the fire risk, is this pants?
  2. We had old services removed, a new B and Q shower cubicle, new sink and toilet- latter changed to macerator type from dump through and waste/ rinser pipes moved to the boat roof. Including two new doors and making good/painting this was an extensive job. Done for me, including parts and labour £3,500. I should add we had the dump through tank removed and a new plastic one fitted under the bed
  3. We use these in the way described, no issues thus far, works fine.
  4. Archimedes screw? More seriously, unless you have a graduated flow, which I would doubt is easily possible, an electric pump is your best bet.
  5. Opt in is not required by law. The Direct Marketing Association recommend opt in. The law surrounding this is largely contained within the Data Protection Act 1998. In simple terms you must not use information for purposes other than the reasons it was collected for. You should find an opt in or a purposes statement, known as a fair processing notice, somewhere in the guff we get from CRT in relation to use of personal data. Otherwise it should be reasonable in the circumstances, there is an exception in the act about the "vital interests" but this purpose would not fall into that category. Alternatively, they just ignored DPA on the basis no one would complain to the information commissioners office. I don't want the booklet because I have an electronic copy. CRT would be advised to consider its customers needs and a little tick in annual renewals would have given them all they needed to spend our money wisely. Great publication for those that need it and I commend its refresh.

  7. A few reasons. 1. We did not like a dump through. 2. The holding tank was small 3. The holding tank was near rusted through 4. We needed to move the hose connector as it was on the side of the boat, not on the gunwhale as ours are narrow gunwales - allowing us to re-site it on the roof 5. The change enables a flat floor 6. The toilet is now at an acceptable level- was too high 7. All this done as we we're rebuilding the bathroom, it needed refurbish anyway Think that's enough Oh, we also fitted a tank full indicator

  10. We had our pump out changed from dump through to macerator with tank under the bed, pretty easy and we also moved the pump out point and rinser to the top of the boat.
  11. Choosing a good surveyor, not just any surveyor and making it clear what you want surveyed is vital
  12. I was asked for hull survey when I purchased boat which was 21 years old then, nautical insurance
  13. I have an external skin tank, never had any overheating problems since it was fitted.
  14. I like Aqua fit outs and have seen some of the bespoke boats at Crick as well as viewing the sponsored fleet. They clearly know what they are doing and are good at working with customers. I know that from personal experience whilst at Mercia. The key to good fitters is to understand the owners needs and advise accordingly. The worst a fitter can do is not advise a customer if they think a design idea is wrong.
  15. I prefer electronic only. I get very little useful mail these days because most of my bills are electronic. The hand book will remain electronic, I do not want a paper copy CRT.
