  1. Oops. Sorry for starting the argument again! I leave the boat connected to the mains whilst away from it, and to be fair we get the occasional week on board and most weekends but I'd say that she is connected to the mains for +85% of the time. I don't have a generator at the moment, but possibly will in the future. So a GI would do the job?
  2. Many thanks, permanently installed it is then
  3. Hi all I'm in need of a galvanic isolator for my narrow, but I'm unsure of which to get. Should I buy the version that wires onto the boat or the inline version? If i did get the inline one, is it safe to leave connected to the mains when we're away? Is it waterproof? Would I need it if I were to run a generator whilst on the canal bank? Many thanks in advance Pete
  4. Hi gareth He did to no avail, and we don't have a remote panel but would be good yo be able to switch it on and off from indoors. Pete
  5. My fitter turned up yesterday, looked at my genny, made a phone call, yes indeed I need a 2kw sine wave genny or the invertor won't recognise it. Grr. Now I've got to find someone with one so I can try it out. Ah well, you can't take it with you I suppose Pete Don It's worth a try before I shell out for a new genny. MtB, yeah I know, meant thing is everything on board is 12v with the exction of the tv's. Now, surely there must be a downside?? Pete
  6. Hmm, you may be right, but I need to have a wander around to see who's got what in terms of genny and interface units etc. My fitter guy should be coming to have a look this week/ weekend. I really don't need to be buying a 2kw inverter. Btw, is it inverter or invertor? Oh eck, another argument started! Pete
  7. Hi bod I too work on the kiss basis, yes it was on, working and rigging a 240v lamp has it working fine. I've read the manual and the only relevant thing I can find is the 'weak ac' setting, but that'll need my fitter to set it up. I'll let you know what he says Pete
  8. Hi Quebec Good idea, I'll have a Jose at a couple of bike fittings to see if it'll be ok. Hi fade It's a round rail, very good idea to weld a fitting on, I'll look into that too! Cheers Pete
  9. Ok, let's not get into the health and safety issues here, I can see both sides of the issues and we shouldn't get personal. This thread was started with the fact in mind that h&s has no issue here as seating is outside of the arc of the tiller. I'm after a securing bracket, I'm not after starting arguments. Anyone any ideas on brackets to secure to the rail? Pete
  10. 5thhorseman, yes indeed something like that, not quite that, but something line that! Lol sea dog! And mark99 looks a great solution but as you say, wouldn't fit mine. Mines bigger than yours!! Pete
  11. Hi bod Yes the generator and cables are in good condition. Thought of that and tried a different cable just in case. Spoke to my fitter yesterday, he seems to think the victron should work with my genny, he's coming out to have a look this week. I'll le you know what happens but if anyone has any other ideas I'm all ears. Pete
  12. Me too! But no one has any ideas it seems
  13. Indeed I can! Health and safety dept can stand easy! Pete
  14. Hi all I have a rear pulpit rail on my narrowboat, ( commonly referred to as pushpit), and on long journeys I could do with a seat to let me take the load off for a while. We have a trad style stern but as it's a white bear boat she's quite wide and rounded at the stern, sort of a cross between cruiser and trad style, but not semi trad. Small perch style padded seats are easy to get hold of but I'm struggling to find a fixing to secure it to the pulpit rail. Any ideas or suppliers? Regards Pete
