So would you accept you should pay for eggs when you go to Asda when you only need bread and milk because someone else might want them?I'm all for being supportive of those in need but when the government takes money with one hand and mis manages with another I find my level of tolerance depleted.

my mistake Alan but he's still someone with influence who could be a major pain in the neck these people are like a dog with a bone.I'm not reading anymore into it other than what has been written all of which seems to be very negative towards boaters! but that's a NI matter not council tax surely?I would happily pay for some services at point of contact that way when they behave in an entitled way I can remind them who pays their bloody wages!

Actually I did read it along with every single comment left below the article and decided to open up the debate wider as a CC myself who intends to visit the area in question, as there was a lot of talk from an MP expressing ignorance about people who live aboard with council tax being part of the debate. Still asking for PayPal donations for the forum Mike while being a pedantic pain in the ass or is your sense of humour clearly not making me smile from ear to ear as usual;))

This is my position Dean.I am a new liveaboard and very shortly will be a genuine CC who will end up spending some time in London and seriously thinking f that if this artical and all the comments below it represent the kind of prejudice people will feel towards me! Thus why I want to learn more about tax and how to inform people when they rant at me for using services. There seems to be a growing " lack of" fear in society nowadays with people turning against each other which I find worrying! The New World Order at work perhaps!!

Yes I understand that but non boating people will still be left with the question why have you used services but not paid from what I have read!There appears to be a lot of resentment which I find worrying.

how do you explain that to someone who see's things from a " I pay so why should'nt you" perspective?

There seems to be a great deal of anger towards boaters who CC in that they use services in diferent areas without paying according to a recent newspaper blog on Islington http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/nov/11/canal-boat-affordable-city-centre-living What are the facts on Council Tax and how it is paid and are CC really the freeloaders certain councillors are making them out to be? I can see this from both sides as I use to manage some linear moorings and the amount of people who think its their God given right to pay come but when it suits cancel direct debits, the list goes on and on. I can only assume the yard in question is sick to the back teeth of piss takers! I would think so as non payment can take the business into an overdraft!

if you can double bank then I could not see how it would make a difference so long as the boat didnt try to cruise!

If you craned your boat you could put it on our moorings on the lower peak as we can double bank but you won't be able to go far but great links to Manchester!!

I take it by the sarcasm no one has ever experienced someone trying their back or front doors in the middle of the night then? I'm not sure I would hear someone on the back deck 50 foot away from my sofa bed at the front. The cheap shed alarms sound like an alright idea cheers. Wowgot any pics of your setup?

I've used it 3 times before it's just got worse with the silt coming out of the water at the front end!I'm wondering if this is kind of thing is getting worse due to financial reasons. My boat grounded so I couldn't motor out in reverse and my engine is good but yes it's been a nice cruise.

Maybe some are a lot worse than others how do you get on as a 60 footer as in are there a lot you simply can't use?I'm think oh no I should have got a 45 footer!

After installing mine a couple of months ago I have already decided to move it further up the boat or putting a small one at the back end! Don't under estimate how hard it is cutting a new hole for the collar is all I can say!
