  1. There are linear, non Marina moorings available, all depends if you want to be stuck out on the system, where you would need a car. Also a lot of people live residential, under the radar on leisure moorings, this is ok if you don’t need the benefits of an official residential mooring, but could/can be a bit more of a pain if your a family, far easier for singles. Good luck.
  2. You say you want a residential Marina mooring, you will be looking at @£3-£4K if not more, for an official mooring with postal address, council tax just like a house(what you will need for doctors, dentist etc)The view will not change and you will more then likely be on a pontoon with a boat either side of you, so can be quite claustrophobic especially in the winter months. Here’s a link to the mooring available around Leeds. https://www.watersidemooring.com/Search?Location=Leeds&DistanceMiles=0&Coordinates=53.8008%2C-1.5491&tab=list&Availability=AvailableNow Have a look to what’s available, these don’t include private Marina’s, but will give you an idea of what’s available. Residential moorings are getting harder to find.
  3. So you have got one of those £200000 electric boats😂👍
  4. Met a lot of deaf people on the canal, normally doing 10mph past my boat when moored up and they even know sign language too✌️
  5. Yes, but there will just be more of them keeping you awake at night on your quiet in the middle of nowhere mooring.
  6. Or will they just find a large area they can evade CaRT enforcement officers, moor on riverbanks, travel by night and play cat’n’mouse for a few years?
  7. Maybe you will find a big change when you come back onto the water, things have changed in the last few years with a lot more CMoorers, even on the once quiet Northern Canals, with places like Woodlesford, Lemonroyd, Whitley, Barmby Dunn often filled with the same boats for months. Then just moving on a few miles to the next services. A lot of these are new boaters, having bought their boats in the last couple of years, after watching Lockdown “living the dream” Vlogs, through Rose tinted glasses. Yes maybe CaRT should be more active with overstaying/CMoorers, but maybe it will be easier to deter them with a big increase in license fee, unfortunately genuine rule abiding CCers are set to suffer if this happens.
  8. I think just length and width once over 6’10” and get rid of any discounts for historic or electric boats or prompt payment. The majority of new electric boat owners aren’t doing it to save the planet but want silent boating. Anyway Pop Master has just finished, so off for a walk down the Canal with the dog, will have a check to see if anymore coping stones have fallen in as the bank gets more under mined.
  9. We all know CaRT need money, Hopefully it will be fair across the board, I don’t think there should be massive discounts for any boats to offset increases in other boats, Hopefully there will be no divide and conquer, but why should my license increase and say a historic boat license decrease or electric boats get discount and wides get a massive increase? Every boat should get an increase in license, be it old, new, diesel, electric, wide, narrow or owned by rich or poor, which should be proportional to size.
  10. No sorry Laughable, wink wink(or should I put one of your winking emojis on)
  11. No boat builder fits UFO vents anymore, they were so 16 year ago, any gas vents fitted these days are normally approved vents not mushroom vents. One for the OP, yes block your vents, block all your high and low ventilation, put your fire on and cook on your gas. When you die I’m not bothered, I take it you’ve just bought the boat and it’s your first?
  12. You really don’t have a clue about what’s happening with the canals, your a hire boater, that’s bought your first boat £250K+ picking it up maybe Summer, you boast about your “deep pockets” “Schilling Rudder” I can’t say too much, but your becoming quite laughable up North.
  13. From what I’ve seen it makes no difference if you write “competencies in your profile” If your talking about experiences with certain Brokers 15 years ago that has no relevance with current times, you can write whatever competencies you want, but times have changed and maybe your “competencies” are out of date.
  14. Yes 13 years ago, obviously not that bad as still in business and still selling boats, unlike a lot of brokers and boat builders who are not in business anymore. The only one who can give an accurate up to date account of their practices is the OP.
  15. I can’t believe that someone who says he has a business would say it without hard evidence, as it could potentially do damage to that business and employees. Then another so called business man, who looked at a boat maybe 10-20 years ago says dealing with the Broker needs caution. Maybe times have changed a bit since they were on the canals.
  16. I know boats corrode not rocket science as they’re steel in water. I have no vested interest but like all yours and Alan’s scaremongering you offer little if any real evidence. When were you looking to buy a boat from Whilton? It does make a difference as they could of changed their practices, we’re talking about today not 20 years ago Your telling me you don’t know that Brokers sell boats that they own without telling the buyer? For two people who say they have ran business’s your both happy to slag Whilton off with little evidence you can post that’s relevant.
  17. I think it these remarks that concern people. You say Whilton have a history of selling boats that sink, basically as soon as the new owner picks them up. Yet little evidence to back it up. If your going to call the integrity of a Business in doubt, then you must provide hard evidence. Instead of telling others to look for it.
  18. Surprise, Surprise, @Alan de Enfield mentioned “Wingman” and his shows up. How many years ago were you looking to buy a boat from Whilton? All Brokers pass off boats which they own without transferring ownership, please stop Scaremongering unless you have factual evidence that’s up to date.
  19. No, you do this all the time with your stories, as I say at least list some proof before you start slagging Whilton off. I’m sure your wingman will be along soon, with dated stories. If your going to Scaremonger at least have some relevant evidence. Not too hard to ask.
  20. People will always ask for up-to date proof with your Scaremongering replies, so I don’t know why you don’t add some links to them?
  21. He has a habit of Scaremongering and provides little if any real evidence, maybe one example if that. But nothing really up to date that would be worthwhile.
  22. Maybe it’s from one those brokers that are getting pre-purchase surveys commissioned prior to the boat going on sale? Something I would be a bit cautious with. I thought the OP was waiting till Monday for the Surveyor’s recommendations and the way forward with the measurements just being preliminary findings, but as you say he says “Survey” so surely there should be recommendations and advice?
  23. Wait to see what your surveyor says with regards to recommendations. The surveyor is working for you and your paying him to give the best advice. You can ignore his advice and come on here to ask for advice or follow his advice. See what he says Monday and take it from there.
  24. Not the same fellow as OP, who I couldn’t really understand what he was going on about or get what he was writing.
  25. No, but from what I remember he dabbled in GRP’s and roughly in the same area, so may be of use for local knowledge👍
