  1. Have just returned from the boat and having just had the gas installed a few days ago by a corgi registed fitter I did the simple test of lighting the stove and see if it would burn for 20 seconds or so before the pressure dropped. Result...... would not even light . The gas was turned off last night at around 6ish and I tried the test around 1 this afternoon. A bubble tester is not fitted so cannot try that, so does this test prove anything ? I do not really want to bring the fitter out for no good reason as this would be a total waste of money, however if there is a leak that would be down to him.
  2. The answere to that unfortunatly is yes and one person alone can achieve this with relative ease.
  3. Does nobody else live within the 500metres ?
  4. Good one Very much like the "expert" x being an unknown quantity and spurt being a drip under pressure.
  5. Its all about knowing your own limitations and not venturing past them.
  6. Thanks Terry, yes everything is fine at the other end of the supply.
  7. Ok. I have my AC and DC earthed to the hull via one bolt. This can be changed to two with no problem. The point is my boat is on dry land placed on top of wooden railway sleepers. What I have done is put a third tempory earth lead to this bolt and then attached this earth lead to a metal stake driven into the ground outside . Is this correct or not necessary ?
  8. Absolutely, but you still see on their vans plumbing, gas, electrical, heating, tiling etc and appear to be busy. Perhaps it only attracts a certain type of customer but like I said they always appear to be busy. I personally would'nt go near one but there you are.
  9. The term " Handyman " is often used to describe themselves around here.
  10. Or the 4th option. Seek phyciatric help. He should not have imaginary friends at his age. Edited to spell Psychiatric properly.
  11. Problem solved. Give us your exact location and I will send the police round.
  12. Do you ask grown ups to hold your hand when you cross the road ?
  13. Seriously now, I personaly would put four or five baited traps ( cheap enough )down with possibly varying baits, cheese ,raisons etc. Should you be lucky enough to catch the blighter I would then leave the traps baited for a couple of weeks more to make sure you've got it or them. In the meantime look out for their telltale droppings.
  14. Could help with fuel consumption.
  15. Hmm, thought they were the staple diet of Tawny Owls.
  16. So nobodies ever lost track of the time ?or do you all have little alarm clocks? 10 mins past 8 report, report, report. I fully understand the problem of what is essentially noise pollution and everyone is entitled to peace and quiet. Persistant offenders should be dealt with by whatever means you deem fit at the time if you are the one that is being disturbed. However some of you really need to get a grip.
  17. A 5day electronics course with Chrisw I don't bother with fourth and so on because nobody claims their prize.
  18. Yes thats right, people call me Bond , Brook Bond
  19. And first prize goes to Bazza. The signs mean do not steal our fish, do not eat our fish, and do not kill our fish ,in that order. And yes the latter is to depict spear fishing. First prize is one days fishing with me. Second prize is two days fishing with me.

    Fish tank

Don't be silly John, he was talkink about keeping Tropical fish, why would they want to go out into the cold ? Hold on not so daft as first thought, tap into the engine cooling system and there we have free heat to keep them warm.

    Fish tank

Must admit I would have thought the same, but fish stay under your boats even when you start your engine, only moving when the boat does. Offshore oil rigs are absolutly teaming with fish and I would imagine there is an awfull lot of vibration coming of the drill.
  23. I heard that was the very first new reel you bought.
  24. They don't. Its just the usual idiots that think otherwise. But I'll tell you what ,if we cull all the small fish in the canal and river systems the problems between boaters and anglers would disappear overnight. There's a thought. Yeah I know, just as idiotic as the others. For some reason Israel springs to mind. I do know they export a lot of freshwater ornamental type fish to the trade. However the golden tench will breed quite happily along with our native tench and hey presto what bloodline do we have then ? Forgot to say, when Zander were first introduced over here they were called for by some Pike-perch and of course this being a direct result of a pike breeding with a perch. Some people around St Albans probably believe this still.
