  1. Different! Chuffing hard work I have tried it!
  2. The exol pride has a joystick now that is difficult
  3. You are right it isn't as precise at first, but as long as a rudder indicator is fitted with practice it becomes easy. At the beginning I went down canals zigzag fashion now straight as a die.
  4. I think my advantage has always been that I was covering zinga blacking rather than something else, I always applied zinga over damage then 3 coats of keelblack. I and my mate John are happy with it, he is covering old 2 pack and has done the whole derusting routine with success
  5. I have a similar size boat, it was tiller but I converted it to wheel, tiller is more direct but now after a couple of years wheel works well, I can see down the left hand side easier and on longer journeys it's more comfortable to sit and steer. I would not go back to tiller now but earlier t would happily thrown the wheel away! As others have said it will steer for a long time on its own in a straight line

  14. Same here even though its zingered it doesnt stop me hitting things and damaging the coating, far better to check it over every 3 years
  15. I have no idea why others had issues with it, my first time I steam cleaned and applied second time same again, the steam cleaner didnt remove the first keel black. I do repairs to the zinga where I have removed it by impact, next year is a blacking year and repaint as well, I will be 63 then so the paint should last me to the end of my boating years, blacking well I will have a few more coats to apply I suspect
  16. Others on here have used it with great results as well as me, Jim Riley for one and others on the numerous threads about blacking
  17. Mine came both times direct from the maker in Newcastle the second time I stayed it on I did 2 boats in a day both fat boats. 3 coats up to just above waterline one on the sides gave good coverage, it goes on brown and changes to black as it dries so you know where you have been. I don't keep spare I just use it on the job.

  19. I have keelblack on and its working well so next year I will apply it again, its quick easy and 3 coats including the baseplate in a day.
  20. I have to say it put the fire out in motor maintenance and nearly killed me! Dry powder is a vile messy business, at the garage a jag caught fire ( its DPF ) we used all the garage dry powder extinguishers but put it out in the end with the hose pipe, which helped clean the powder away at least
  21. Years ago when I was ar Ouston an old airfield we had a fire in motor maintenance I set off a 180 kilo dry powder extinguisher! We ended up using the fire hose to clean the place out, to say it was a mess was an understatement! Another not long afterwards went off on its own, looked like a snowstorm afterwards on the airfield
  22. The law has changed dramatically, car makers get heavily fined for every car they produce that produce more than 85 grams of CO2 per Km travelled. They get credits for electric cars sold to offset the gross polluters, its one of the reasons why all the hybrids are being produced. Things are changing and that will include us,I have gone electric drive already charged by solar
