  1. i'm on the waiting list for a mooring on the Cam, out of interest how much are they charging per ft?
  2. I would like to become a genuine cc'er one day. I'd rent my flat out to pay the regular bills fuel, food, license and so on and have some savings for unforeseen problems. This would avoid me having to stay in a certain area for work etc. I think it would be a great way to live and see the country, but some people in the film seem to be suggesting this may not an option in the future and CRT want everyone in a marina. I just hope when the time is right for me it can still be done.
  3. I'm always looking at narrowboat/canal videos on youtube and found this one this morning. I'm not sure how to add a link but if you type in the title of this thread you should find it. I found it quite interesting, i know one or two people in the film are probably not playing by the rules, but what do you think CRT's long term goal might be?
  4. this is for your own home that you rented out, not a buy to let?. if so it doesn't surprise me but seems harsh. I'd like to rent my flat out and live on the cut but don't fancy getting caught like this.
  5. it may still happen, the thing that worries me with CART is that they can move the goal posts at any time, which is what they did with winter moorings last year.
  6. i will ask, i thought they might want a license number or something before they will let you have it but will check
  7. thanks, that's what in needed. so could i take the mooring when it comes up and then buy a boat?
  8. I'm still on the list for a mooring on the Cam, when i get offered one i assume i can pay for it and then find a boat afterwards?. Who do i buy the license from, the environment agency? i had a quick look on their website but could not find anything. I'm thinking this might be the best option for me now, i would like to cc round the network ideally but get the impression that CART would like everyone in a marina
  9. I can't see this survey has any meaning? There are too many variables, its a bit like asking how much does it cost to live in a house. Some people will be living in starter homes some big country houses, some on their own some large familys. I would like to know what the cost was and for who and what size boat eg £150 a week, single person, 40ft boat.
  10. Can this sort of stuff not be done by email instead these days?
  11. cant you find a dog turd on the towpath and put that in a bun?. you will then effectively have a Mcdonalds but free!
  12. so much better than watching John sergeant in his pajamas...
  13. sometimes you can get away with using a torx bit in an allen bolt
  14. Just seen a listing on ebay from clearwaterboats does anyone know anything about them? I've never looked at new boats before but often search newly listed narrowboats on ebay and yesterday spotted this. Just wondered if anyone has one and what they think of it?
  15. I think i've watched them all, it would appear he has a lovely lifestyle that costs very little. There's a few on here that are adamant that what he is doing can't be done for what he says it costs him. I love the videos and find them very interesting.
