  1. Nope, not allowed to take cash, more likely to have been the IWA, if someone is shaking a tin they are not CRT fundraisers. unless of course you’re using some sort of euphemism, in which case you ought to make that clear.
  2. I can’t answer all those questions about chuggers, but on the whole there’s quite a misunderstanding of what they do, they don’t rattle tins for instance and never have, I’ll say something about it later.
  3. well there’s an exact example how things could be done better, after having fundraised myself for 2 and half years, I know it could be done better. The friends scheme has a lot of potential. And it’s how we could get cyclists and walkers paying their £. It’s possibly a good example how CRT spent money simply to gain some approval from government without really making the effort. “If we do this, .. it don’t actually have to work, but because we’re making an effort the government will keep funding us”. so yes, the friends scheme is poorly managed, good idea, but poorly managed.
  4. Ok fair enough, thinkimg I’m getting there with this strawman thing and that I don’t think anyone can disagree with. and that’s the obvious problem, of course it is, but CRT said/claimed/promised they’d become more self sufficient over time. And they haven’t. They were supposed to fill that funding gap themselves. I’d like to know why they haven’t. Why have they failed to do that? Of course the cost of Blue signs alone can’t be to blame but the energy/potential/possibilities of CRT I think has been misdirected and could be why they’ve stuffed up.
  5. This then is where I’m failing to understand the strawman concept/notion Midnight never mentioned the NHS or immigrants but you replied with some sort of comparative remark to support your view and denograte his, that’s strawman ain’t it? your first statement dealt direct with what he said 👍 but was the last bit a bit strawdoggish?
  6. You’re about as likely to whinge about Parry as ……IanD is to whinge about London mooring. You need to work on your strawman arguments a little more. 😂
  7. I think it has to be, I remember it’s not far below a lock, and easy to pull over on the left, I topped up yesterday on the Lee at Springfield marina @ £1.30 per litre. domestic prices
  8. Somewhere around Uxbridge I’ll have to look it up.
  9. the other week I was going like the clappers and the boat following behind got the abuse 😂 early morning, the boat behind was sharing locks so kept up, at a nice distance, I reckon the folk must have been woken by me and by the time they got outta bed it was the bloke behind who got the bother. I’d have told them it were their wake up call for church (it being a Sunday)
  10. Looks like they’re £18 a night. Something to keep in reserve as a possible option.
  11. Yes, Dobb’s weir 👍 did you see my photos of it on the other thread?
  12. Im gonna pretend I never read that, ffs, another idea bites the dust! stuff it I’ll find another mooring where CRT won’t get a penny then, 4pm onwards is time enough for a pint
  13. thanks for that 👍 that’s very much the info I need, CRT imply you can book and moor anywhere within the zones of either the Colebrooke or Trinity stretch. And double mooring is permitted this time of year.
  14. It’s a beautiful weir, and I’m sure it was once a site for one of them flash locks.
  15. no, I don’t suppose there is, but somewhere perhaps to think about for a day off and a mooch about town, when it rains and rains and rains and… 😃
  16. Cheers for that, yes £35 a night/day is not something I would normally want to pay for various reasons, but I’m thinking of trading, so the cost might prove to be a small overhead 🤷‍♀️ and as a bonus the batteries could do with a proper good charge. I guess it’s a case of try it and see. When I came through it looked very very busy with footfall.
  17. I can possibly guess who they are. 😃 It’s odd down South. Whilst trading around the midlands seems to have increased ten fold and more over the last few years, Ive only come across one other trader down here. I guess boaters down here have proper jobs, on the main they’re young and commute to London from wherever they moor. oh, there is the poo boat and of course coal boats down here.
  18. as long as you all leave a space at me favourite pub moorings 😎
  19. Anyone used them or anyone have local knowledge about them? I’m thinking about the eco-moorings at King’s Cross in particular, so I can plug in. 2 things I wonder about; 1) access to electricity, how simple is it ? The booking system gives the details once you’ve booked and paid. I don’t want to book and then find it’s going to be a drag/faff getting electric. 2) and of course what happens if someone is occupying my space who ain’t booked in? I’m sure they’d simply move on request (I’ve only been greeted with friendliness so far) I guess a walk/bus trip in advance to get the lay of the land might prove worthwhile but meantime any thoughts/comments would be welcome 👍
