  2. Hi A suitable container is either a proper plastic petrol can or a jerry can. Anything else used can not only be a danger but can also melt. My partner works in a petrol station and states that these are the only things that can be used and filled at any petrol station. Dave
  3. Hi Pagan U can also do that with vodoaphone i use hi speed usb cable i got with my camera. Dave

  6. Hi Roger. Its lovely in the summer innit. I think its six of you and half a dozen of the other. Does your fire on boat not have a chimney? Dave
  7. Hi Ernie Welcome to the forum. I can only comment on are boats damp. You can get alot of condensation by the fact that your are in all metal boat which if its insulated well will never get warm on cold winter days on the outside. Any moisture condensing on the cold surfsces will condense and run off somewhere. We live on our boat and have the fire on most of the day in this weather and it is lovely and warm . In the morning when all the moisture in air has ran off it is damp. ....until we warm it up again..... seems to be warm and damp warm and damp always. Due to not having double glazing you will get the normal flood from glassin the mornings. Im still seaching for a remey to the problem and would like to hear of any remedies. Dave
  8. Hi Mike Hav not had problems so far but do with phone hav to go out side of boat sometimes Dave
  9. Hi Hav just bought this vodaphone modem and it is as fast as any broadband. Ive tried it on my laptop on boat and at the house on pc and it is just as quick. cost 49.99 and 25.99 a month for 250mb which is enough for my needs. Hav found no differance than normal broadband and would recommend this to anyone Dave
  10. What makes you think that fishermen would want to communicate with you? Im sure not many people would find your opinion at all amusing in fact childish would better describe.
  11. Hi Tom & Sophie Can you please tell me what service you are using from T mobile. I have been told that web & walk is very slow and not comparable with dial up. I want to set up a internet connection for use with my laptop on my narrowboat. Thanks Dave

Regards marinas and ccers ,i think that if people cant aford the life of a ccer and all the costs involved then a marina mooring is the most obvious alternative. As regards marinas i do think that some of the countryside is being lost to vast expanses of landl locked water. Most of the marinas advertise beautifull landscaped surroundings but they are not accesible to general country lovers that used to walk once where now they cant. In the napton area you have to stay on your boat now because with the massive projects going on by ventnor marina and calcutt to mention just 2 there are no more country walks except perhaps the odd 100 yds before you hit a wire fence. Not only that the local roads have been carved up by lumbering trucks( i suppose car tax will cover the repairs)
  13. Hi Has anyone made their own holding tank for pump out toilet. Dave
  14. I have a dog and i always clear up his poo after him. I dont have a bag with me so i chuck it in the hedge. This im sure will help the hedgerows grow thicker when it breaks down into fertiliser. Some dog poo sinks i think so not such a prob as the floating ones. Dave
  15. I have noticed along the hedgerows where i am moored that some bushes are full of blue berries. I was wondering if these are true blue berries cos if they are its surprising that there are so many left. They are a bit smaller than grapes. Also I would like to know if they can compliment roast duck. Dave
  16. Many Thanx to all that replied to my cook a duck post. I just wondered thats all. Some excellent replies.
  17. Just out of interest has anyone caught and prepared a duck for eating.
  18. Why do some people have to have a bow thruster? When you put the back into the canal bank does it swing out when you put the bow thruster on to bring the front in? It looks so comicle.
  19. Many Thanks for your reply i will try everything that has been suggested and report back...Dave
  20. I Dont know if anyone can help me on this one. I have a electric fridge and it is connected to 4 leisure batteries along with other appliances. My problem is that the low electric supply light flashes and the fridge shuts down. I fitted a new 70 amp alternator ,and a management system and split charge diode several months ago and everything has been running fine until now+ 2 new 110 leisure batteries. As soon as i run my engine the fridge comes back on .as soon as the engine starts. I have a seperste inverter which the fridge isnt running off but seems to be running everything all the time and this is fitted with a low voltage cut out. im baffled ..any ideas would be much appriciated.
