  1. Hi Following this topic with interest. I go to my local country garage with 4 jerry cans and fill 3 up with red diesel and 1 with white. The red diesel is 75p and the white is £1.05 The guy that runs garage knows i have a narrowboat and i tell him the white is for propulsion and the red is for living, he shrugs and says ive heard nothin so i could have had it all red, i say oh i want to keep things legal so give me a receipt for both. Dave

  3. Hi John I have a 1.5 bmc and have just had new skin tank fitted and have left me to connect to the engine could you tell me if the water pump pumps water into or out of the tank, also i have a header/fill tank does this feed into top or bottom pipe from new skin tank( it did feed into top of old cooling tank. I would be gratefull for any help that you can give me ,i have been readng your replies to threads and have learned a bit. Many thanks .... Dave

  5. Hi If livaboards should pay council tax then surely so should all boat owners as if you have an other property used for holidays only you would have to pay tax on that. Then as most boats on the network are really holiday homes the owners of these boats should pay also Its no good complainning about livaboards not paying. So i dont understand why you have got to go on moaning all the time about ccers and livaboards we are all not paying for something dont you think Dave
  6. Hi We have noticed that alot of the boats moored up for along time are not ccers but people who buy boats for leisure and leave them moored up all over the place i.e visitors moorings for months on end while they go back to there houses until they can use their boats again and dont want to pay marina fees for their boats. It is these that are giving us ccers a bad name. If you carnt pay marina fees for your boat when you are not using it then dont buy one. We have seen boats left for months and no one on them, even notices left on them by bw but nothing is done about them, it always goes back to us ccers that are using the system and moving around. We dont moor up on visitors moorings as we carnt see the point they are in crowded areas anyway we moor up in the countryside peferably on our own as that is how we like it, not in towns, that is why we got a boat and live on it to get away and enjoy the piece and quiet of the countyside and the canals which we enjoy very much. If bw did something about these boats, half of them that you see moored up on your travels would be gone and there would be room then for everyone. Dave
  7. Hi Bridgit Please do ....and have you any recipes......Dave
  8. Moist air cold surfaces ....condensation. Warm all ur cold surfaces up or breath into large bags at night and let out of doors in morning. Avoid boiling kettles or cooking unless steam can be piped straight to atmosphere as the vapour will stay in air and condensate on your cold surfaces which are usuallycoldest at night. Are you saying that it is to cold in your boat due to insufficient insulation. All the foam will not stop cndensation unless you keep the inside of your boat warm
  9. Hi Brummage Myself and my partner bought our boat a year ago and have been ccrs ever since We had both had failed marriages and our love for the narrowboat life first bought us together on the internet. We have .no capital and are both working We went into considerable debt for our boat and we love it,and we love the life,im sat by my stove now with a doae of flue but would still rather be sitting here than in a house,i dont know why its just a feeling. We have had our hardships and ups and downs, and scares during floods but still love this life. One day the boat will be ours totally with no debt, that will be a bonus for us. So i guess we are part of the canal community because we love the life. Dave
