  1. I have a problem with my sky free sat systempurchased from Road Pro. When I fire it up I can either get all programmes except BBC 1. If I then turn it off leave it a while and fire it up again I get all programes except all of the ITV listings. So in order to get all of the programmes all of the time ( I sound like Mr Barnum) I need to keep turning the blessed thing on and off and on Anybody else had the same problem? A solution would be most welcome Yar Well (I have to keep getting up for Her on Board)
  2. Hi one and all I am considering buying the Aldi Medion Latop (MD96290) that will be on sale on Sunday 7th October @ £479.99 the spec seems very good for the price although I am not an expert. Has anybody got one of these and if so would they reccomend it Many Thanks Yar Well ( got to watch the hard earned)
  3. Hi Sammie Welcome to the forum. We have a Thetford Cassette with electric flush and two spare cassettes which we store under our bed. (No odours as they are well sealed) Advantages as per previous posts but one of the main reasons we went the Thetford route is that it is self contained and should there be any problems it will be easy to replace without to much hassle. Friends who have gone the pumpout route have often said they wish they hadn't as you will have to pay whatever charge is asked for by marinas now and in the future for a pumpout. You also tend to plan your route to ensure you can get to a pumpout station. Cheers Yarwell
  4. Hi Sue Try this site www.Parrs.co.uk They may need blocks putting on to adjust to any height difference between Well and shore. Or type in step up folding adjustable ladders into Google Cheers Yarwell ( who knows it could work out)
  5. Hi All I will soon be spending some of my year on the waterways and some of my year abroad probably 6 month split or there abouts. I want to be able to get onto the internet to stay in touch with family etc from home and abroad I was wondering if anybody has already done this and was it 1/with the same provider with a roaming package 2/ with a laptop or blackberry 3. What sort of costs could I expect with average useage and 4/ any other info that I have not thought of Many thanks Yar Well (It's been a long time comming)
  6. Thanks All Ihave now studied the camera instructions in more detail and followed them step by step and I can now re-size them in situ as it were. I will reset the camera to 3 mega pixel as suggested. Many thanks Yar Well (another learning curve taken)

  9. Hi Ken If as you say it is a criminal offence to fly the Union Jack from a boat then how can they fly it upside down if they are not allowed to fly it in the first place Yar Well (it took me a bit of time to think of that)
  10. OK OK I give up I will get a red duster and fly that. I will fly the Union Jack at the landing Stage as it is a land flag ( to small to make into underpants) Yar Well (Look at this http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/gb-use.htm ) That's why I gtave up.
  11. There is a right way up for the Union Jack, but it is not flown upside down as a signal of a ship in distress. That is only done with ensigns, ... Next Yar Well ( answer that)
  12. Hi Norman So can you tell us which courtesy flag a foreign vessel would fly when visiting a British Port? It's certainly not an ensign as they are always flown at the stern and not the mainmast. When I was in the Navy (Merchant Red Ensign) we always flew the national flag of the country we were visiting from just below the portside crosstree of the Mainmast as a courtesy. The starboard side just below the crosstree was reserved for signal flags ie Quaranteen flag ( yellow) meaning I request the services of a doctor to give the vessel a clean bill of health (or not) Blue Peter (White square on dark blue background) meaning the vessel will be sailing within 24hrs. etc etc............................ Yar Well ( ignorance is bliss!!) Hang on a minute whats this BLIMEY even Nelson got it wrong Shot at 2007-06-26
  13. You can fly the Union Jack as a courtesy flag from a foreign VESSEL[/b] Yar Well (It's True)
  14. Apart from flying illegal flags you can rig an aerial from it for VHF radio if you go onto Tidal rivers or to improve your wi fi reception if you are into nfrormation technology[ or to hang a washing line from the uses are endless. Unfortunately not large enough to hang MUTINEERS AND TROUBLEMAKERS FROM!!! Yar Well ( be warned)
  15. Really simple.I have put four 32mm dia cup magnets on the bottom and whilst it gives it extreemly good contact it is easy to break the magnetic field by just pulling it back. The other benifit is that you can place it wherever you want on any metal part of the boat witout any drilling welding etc and can be stored away from prying eyes when you are away from the boat (see pic) Shot at 2007-06-26 Shot with DMC-TZ3 at 2007-06-26 Re Illegal union flag I could be Johnny Foreigner and flying it as a courtesy flag. Yar Well ( I'm English through and through so I,ll take it down)
