  2. It does say Midland canal centre on the advert
  3. I have a 1997 Midland Canal centre 57 footer my wife and myself went to view it 3 years ago it was in a bit of a state inside but we both absolutley fell in love with it payed a deposit and now its back to how it was supposed to be, inside beautiful wood looks like a little cottage inside, when we had the survey although it had been in the water for 7 years not blacked was perfect underneath, it also is one of the best handling narrrowboats I have ever steered turns virtualy on its own axis. Not everyones cup of tea with the amount of wood inside but we love it.
  4. Cheers for that makes a lot more sense now , 1 terminal was showing 12v the other showing 3.6v so I have taken the gauge off to have a look. Thank you very muchly.
  5. I did mine about 3 years ago . You will struggle to get it to look right just patching . Get rid of all the loose stuff any rust showing through treat it with rust inhibitor sand the roof then repaint the lot . Took me a couple days 3 coats using a roller was suprisingly easy still looks ok to .
  6. Yes it did used to work coming into a lock happened to look at temp gauge and it was right up , stopped the engine checked it but was at normal temp . Did about another 30 hours to get back to my mooring engine still normal temp but gauge still right up . When I get to work I will try and post some pics .
  7. Very similar but there is a single blue that with the ignition on shows 12v that goes to sender , then the other wire from the sender goes to the gauge and is connected to a spade fitting with another black wire that shows as being earth . There are 2 more live white wires connected to a 3 rd spade. Cheers for the reply much appreciated
  8. Stlii doing my head in although the temp gauge now doesn't move at all even with the engine hot . I have checked all the wires no breaks , does anyone know how you test the actual gauge itself . Pleas keep it simple convinced now anything to do with electrics belong to the dark arts ? any help much appreciated
  9. I am forever in your debt Sir Nibble that makes sense now, I am thinking now as I have tested for breaks in the wire and it is a new sender, must be the gauge that has packed in.
  10. Hope someone can help me with this my temperature gauge went right up to the top even with the engine cold, I have worked on loads of engines but all car based, so I did a few tests and thought it was the sender which I have replaced, but unlike the cars I have done there are 2 wires from the sender one I think is an earth the other one appears to be live. the rear of the gauge there are 3 spades one with a blue wire one with 2 black wires and one with 2 white wires, blue wire goes to the sender which with the ignition on shows 12v on a test meter. One of the 2 black wires goes to the sender and again with a tester shows common earth. The white wires are live with the ignition on. . I really cannot get my head round how this works all the other senders I have replaced are just a gradual earth as the engine gets hot it grounds more, increasing the needle on the temp gauge. I have tested all the wires and there is no break in any of them the only thing that is confusing me is not being able to understand how it works and why is the blue wire showing as being live. Please put an old man out of his misery and even if I am being thick I will not be offended in the least.
  11. Surely thats Bocked alright lets say on the 14th April what will happen
  12. So come on then simple vote. I say it will stay open as my earlier post. Just put blocked or open no long posta explaining why, just me being curious. so OPEN
  13. I did think the closure would not happen ,if CaRT did close it poss £160,000 lost in licence revenue rock and hard place springs to mind .

  15. Not really sure what it is just the love stuff like that even if its poetic license
  16. Traditional position engine room houses a Lister HA2, ex RAF starter motor for the Vulcan Jet In a Tug for sale .Just made me smile when I read description love it.
  17. Thanks for the greenie Nigel I am sure it was your subconscious working I think I must be getting more intelligent, because I actually nearly understood your last post. Nigel I do not agree with the way you have dealt with CaRT more to do with lost money, but I do admire your knowledge and resource in doing so it is a shame things cant be right but the nature of a dinosaur like CaRT is it will take a miracle or someone with a love of our waterways and a realization of how much money the canals bring in tourism alone.
  18. Niigel I do not hold any malice to you whatsoever, you seriously do my head in trying to read your posts, in fact I usualy give up and probably in light of this maybe I miss your point, are you against CaRT in general, please just a straight answer, how if you had the say so, would you make CaRT be able to makee it pay.
  19. Hence my post re what agenda does Nigel have,,and the fact that if you have a clever mind and the time to dig, and because a lot of the laws are embroiled in 19th century confusion try and, use it for present day rulings it just doesnt work and we have CaRT having to spend much needed money for the canals in the courts.
  20. Joel do we know each other as you apparently know me, don't really understand the comment about me being stuck somewhere. I have had to deal with real angry people in the past the Father who wanted to kill the person who had mown down his daughter while drunk, A young man who's 63 year old mum was beat up by a burglar for 6 pounds, and I could go on, these people are the ones who have a right to be angry. Last year I was moored at one of my favorite spots just next to a winding hole where a trip boat turns 3 times a day, another narrow boat pulled in the space in front of me where there was a no mooring sign, now I must admit the sign is not obvious when you first pull in. So I said to him, hi mate do you know your not supposed to moor there to which to which he replied bloody hell didn't see that and began untying his boat, 15 seconds later another boater appeared ranting and raving about blocking the winding, to which a massive argument took place, I thought it was going to end in fisticuffs. So my point here is the boater was going to move but because an angry boater intervened a situation turned really nasty. Personally don't do sarcastic and patronising I tend to think it comes over as condescending arrogance
  21. Thank you all so much, kept reading the posts until finaly I thought I will have a look. To be honest angry boater blog is in my opinion rubbish, why do you set out your day wanting to find something to be angry about, most of the things he seems to have a problem with are either through his own doing or just repeating stuff that had already has been discussed on this forum or elsewhere oor perhaps material you could you as a standup routine although I doubt there would be many laughs.. I will make a suggestion apperently caravanning is full of people to get angry with, sell your boat and buy one, just to save me bumping into you on the canals.
  22. Thats precisely the point Nigel, quotes as without the sight of the relevant acts and the such like, if you look at the wierd acts/laws that used to be in place when motorcars where first introduced a lot had to be changed to enable people to drive on the road. Perhaps because the waterway acts are still based from the time commercial barges plied there trade it all needs revampiing for the leisure industry. When CaRT explain why they cannot make it pay and need more money I wonder if they will just print off your posts and say look this is what we need to change to make it pay. Alright a bit tongue in cheek but hey. Ok then because BW lost that money it makes everthing else losing money ok. That was a a total disaster and someone should have been brought forward to answer but its the past , could CaRT do the same thing I am not sure.
  23. Although I said it does not mean I believe it can happen the way things are, We do have a massive problem and this is just not CaRT but they are the ones my interest lie, is the goverment made it a charity so instead of a much cost finacial drain on them they are hoping with volenteers and people giving money it will be self financing, of course it wont work mainly because truthfully not everyone cares about our waterways, a lot of folk would not care less if they where left to silt up and disappear, I have said before Cart are going to be forced to take a long hard look at the way the canals work and I for one am not looking forward to the outcome.
  24. Nigel can I ask something. While I know you are a very clever bloke I wondered what your agenda was, I really have not the time at the moment to read big legal posts, may have got this wrong but it seems your saying that Pillings need not pay the NAA. Whilst these loopholes, get outs or whatever you want to call them, how is CaRT going to be able to keep our canals in a navigable state when instead they have to pursue people through the courts to get a business to pay a known charge for or someone mooring for to long.. I do realize that sometimes someone's need does need fighting for especially against large companies, but true fully CaRT needs to be self sufficient quite soon. I do not want moorers blocked in a marina absolutely awful position to be in, but at the same time I do not want to see private companies ripping off our money.
