  1. What is the max height from top of tray to lowest part of the ceiling? From memory modern house cubicles are 1.85m. There would be nothing stopping you on fitting a corner shower with bi-fold door and fit the fixed side glazed panel down the side of the shaped and tiled wall. This way no customised shower door and side panel needed. Ie just fit an L shaped corner cubicle on top of the tray, the side part on top of the tray and against the tiled shaped wall. Another option either build a full wall or remove it. https://www.heatandplumb.com/acatalog/premier-ella-shower-enclosure-erbd76-ersp76?utm_source=google&utm_medium=Shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiv7Z6vmM2gIVFJ4bCh25XQh2EAQYByABEgINL_D_BwE James.
  2. I would seriously rethink buying a different boat. If it does need over plating and other parts not in great shape you would probably be better off using that money on a better boat. Unless of course your budget is very small. Possibly buy a smaller boat with good hull and engine? As stated a hull only survey would find out about the hull thickness condition. I take it you are handy with DIY or have friends who are good, as Marina rates soon add up. James
  3. Unfortunately so! Hope owners or cart have managed to seal up broken windows with plastic etc to keep rain out. If I was having new windows I would insist on Laminated glass, not toughened. At least laminated stays together. James.
  4. I really like old buildings, and if I ever won the lottery I'd buy a small manor house with gate lodge so my grandparents can live in it. It always annoys me when they say some owner built it rather than "had it built" as if the owner actually built it. James
  5. Certainly looks bad. Hope the canal bridge is ok as the breach right beside. I have lived in Georgian and Edwardian houses and the foundations were virtually non existent, so hope the water hasn't undermined the bridge/ aqueducts foundations. I certainly wouldn't of stood where the person took the video! All looks really unstable and very steeply banked when built. James
  6. I like badgers as we used to live up a remote track in Herefordshire when I was 11 and used a 4x4 Subaru 1600 and 1800 to get to the cottage with no mains services in 1990. After a year of waiting for wayleaves had electricity put on for 8k water 5k, borehole 273 feet deep. It was a lovely common to explore as a child and could walk for miles exploring Croft Ambrey, Fishpool Valley etc with deer, badgers, red kite and all sorts of wildlife. I even made a little hut a distance from the badgers sett to watch them come out at night and it was lovely. I certainly see sense in culling badgers/ rabbits where they pose a potential danger to the canal. James
  7. It sounds expensive either way. I suppose that if you in-filled the breach in the bank you create pressure where the old and new joins. Unless of course for a badger cull for TB. Have badgers or rabbits ever caused a breach? Surely if badgers had, they could be humanely rehomed by a licensed contractor rather than cause an expensive breach? James
  8. Ouch, 18 months is a long time! Hopefully can get the boats craned and/or re-floated. What material do they rebuild the banks back up with and the procedure? James.
  9. Thank you both for your reply. I have just looked at a map of the canals and found the same route! In fact I like the Staffs and Worcester and Shroppie as did this route from Norbury wharf when I bought my boat, so can call in to them and see how they are etc. The pictures of the breach on the laptop makes it look like a huge task to repair. Hope they can repair it in the next 3 months. James.
  10. I haven't planned my trip yet into the route planner but thought I would go in May or June to Llangollen, but I take it this breach was on route from my mooring near Alrewas on the Trent and Mersey? Is there any other routes that are not double locks as single handed, so never done a wide lock on my own? Or I should give them a go or share locks. I certainly hope it can get fixed quickly. Looks a major issue to me. What do cart do if badgers/ rabbits burrow into the bank. Are they euthanized or left to it? James
  11. A lot can happen in 5 years. If nothing else get a hull only survey. If your knowledgeable on boats and can give it your own inspection. My biggest fear would be galvanic corrosion if on shore power at a mooring. If it has spent time in a Marina check if a GI is fitted. James.
  12. Tayna have an offer on 4 Trojan T105's delivered. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/4-X-T105-Battery-6v-Deep-Cycle-Trojan/1136931490?iid=271293724535&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D49920%26meid%3Dbc442a777d284ff4a17958be6593c1c5%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D251354231086%26itm%3D271293724535&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1 James
  13. Thanks both, I'll buy just 2. This forum and advice has been great. I have learnt a lot from all your advice over the last 2 months regarding my electrical set up and have now learnt about keeping a good charging regime and to do an EC as needed. James
  14. Thanks for the diagram and photo whotever and nicknorman and smileypete for the link. If you were me would you keep these 2 batteries and buy 2 more or buy 4 new? I really can't spend any more time on them as need to put everything back, shower and dinner. James
  15. Electrolyte level is normal/full. Not used any. The room where I re-calibrated it is chilly as no heating on. I have just lit the stove! I'll recalibrate it in the heated room. EDIT. Tempted to just buy 4 new for £551.36 delivered and save the hassle as cant have a shower as stuff out of rear stored in bath. Would my existing 2 batteries have a value or not? James
  16. My thoughts too. I'm giving it one final EC and calling it a day. I'll buy just two more batteries. James
  17. The readings are lower today using the same refractometer as used on the other results and not re calibrated. The latest results on post 80 are when I have just re-calibrated it. It doesn't make sense? Your thoughts? James
  18. I have just re- checked the calibration with a few drops of water and the white shading wasn't on 0 it was below. I adjusted the screw and brought the shading difference/line to 0. I don't know if I should of re-calibrated as the readings are now much higher! Battery 1 1 = 1.290 2 = 1.280 3 = 1.300 4 = 1.285 5 = 1.280 6 = 1.300 James
  19. You are most likely right. Yesterday evening I had the internal doors open and the fire going. Refractometer in box on kitchen worktop. Today no heating on and internal doors open and refractometer stored in an unheated engine bay. Ooops! Should I continue? James
  20. Hi Mike. One of these. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATC-Glycol-Refractometer-Auto-Car-Fluid-Battery-Antifreeze-Acid-Engine-Tester-UK/122874506527?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Thanks. James
  21. Classic! yes a classic waste of time and money! Yes weather much improved. Enjoy your Cruising. James
  22. Battery 1 1 = 1.25.8 2 = 1.24.5 3 = 1.26.5 Battery 2 4 = 1.25 5 = 1.24.8 6 = 1.26.5 Would the reducing results stem from cold batteries or just time to finish an EC, ie as best as they will get? Battery box temperature 9 degrees and no heating on in boat. Yesterday SFS lit. Would you continue equalising? James
  23. Turned the 12 volt fridge and freezer back on after doing the EC last night, so yes was using the battery power. I also turned the victron charger to charger only as well. battery monitor said 104% SOC this morning. James
  24. New readings previous Bat 1 1 = 1.26 1.260 2 = 1.24.7 1.250 3 = 1.26.5 1.270 bat 2 4 = 1.25 1.25.5 5 = 1.24.8 1.25.0 6 = 1.26.3 1.27.0 As you can see the new readings on the left are lower than yesterday readings on the right! Is this due to temp differences? I have put my weather station in the battery box next to the batteries and it's reading 11 degrees. James
