  1. I think you are right in that they make very little if anything. It’s just very annoying in my case they have taken over a month to decide they have sold it to someone else….this after sending me pictures of the damage and us conversing about delivery and a reduction for the damage. Only last week I was told it was finally going to be despatched…which maybe it was but not to me!
  2. Just a heads up for anyone thinking of using BCMW....I ordered a storage unit from them that was on their website....when it did arrive with them it was damaged...however we agreed a reduced price...it actually just needed a bit of paint...and I then waited...and waited...now Ive just been informed they sold it to someone else and they cant get another one!!! They were very poor at communicating.....only replying when I contacted to ask what was going on. I had heard various reports about them from others but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt....clearly I was wrong! They do various canal boat related stuff....Id be very wary of dealing with them....a pity as they do some interesting items.
  3. I feel for you. We got through just in time but having been stuck in rufford when that breeched a few years ago it’s no fun at all.
  4. See my picture above!! I posted the pics on Saturday….we came past the landslide location 2 days before it happened…. Now the right side for once!!
  5. Just in case anyone is thinking of going down the W & B….might be a while judging from these pics on fb….you can just see the tunnel entrance in one.
  6. I’m really not sure you get tradition in any sense of the word.
  7. I did post an update! But it needed approval because it had CRTs email in it and now seems to have totally gone! Sorry!! At least it was a quick fix.
  8. Any idea why I could make one post but when I replied to another post on the thread it says I need approval?.....seems odd way to run a forum....and it was only about a stoppage!
  9. 10. Im trying to find out further info....will post here if I find anything. And as if by magic this just arrived!! 11. Does anyone know the cause of the “structural failure” at lock 7 At Lapworth…due to be going that way in a couple of days and want to know if it’s a possible easy fix or not…the stoppage notice is less than helpful to put it mildly!….just says it will be fixed as soon as possible…..which in CRT terms could be a day…could be a year….
  12. I wonder if the “control” will be on the towpath side to help those boating single handed?
  13. Hard to put a picture in a phone conversation plus I find a quick text easier than waiting for a switchboard or indeed sending a message out of hours. Not all of us boat Mon-Fri 9-5.
  14. Apparently it’s a cost saving measure and due to “lack of engagement” however I’m not sure if that’s because Twitter are charging or because CRT outsource their social media monitoring. I will seek clarification. I’ve pointed out that customer service accounts are rarely followed back but used to contact said company or organisation as and when required.
  15. It seems CRT are closing the ContactUs account on twitter or X if you like. Now I’m not a massive fan of Twitter but did find it an effective way to get in touch to report faults and incidents without having to send it to the relevant region or worry what region I was in. You could also send a pic to show the issue. It wasn’t without fault but I thought it a useful tool in getting in touch when boating without having to wade through a diabolical website to find a contact form that can’t accept an image. Ive been told the regional Twitter accounts are staying but I can never remember where one region ends and another begins…and that in the future the web form might accept images. Apparently the main CRT account can be used but as far as I’m aware this has never been used as an account to contact CRT…just to send out information. Am I alone in finding closing a customer service portal annoying or perhaps it’s me that’s out of touch? I’d love to hear others thoughts on the issue so I can relay them back….even if that means it’s me that’s the only one concerned.
  16. I personally would suggest charging all those welded to a towpath inside the M25 £2-£3K per year and say they don’t have to move. This would still be cheap living for them and would be a sizeable increase in CRT coffers. No doubt NBTA would squeal but they would have the moorings they wanted. Would sort out who wanted to live afloat and those that were just freeloading.

  19. I believe the plan is for them to be relocated to the wharf opposite where hopefully not only will there be better access for collection but they won’t be abused as much as the site by the CSF. I have pointed out the original stoppage notice could have made this clearer. If anyone is local and the relocation hasn’t happened in the next few weeks please let me know and I’d be happy to chase it up.
  20. Google adjustable radiator connector....and pick a size that suits....they work well..Used them on my boat for about 20 years after I couldn't source the same size rads....and flushing through involves a hosepipe in at the high point and a one connected to the low point...or a bowl and a pump/wet & dry vac.
  21. As sadly this topic now has strayed so far off topic I suspect the OP has quite understandably given up on the fossils on the forum perhaps it’s time I asked what people think of Polyamorous relationships….this is speaking as someone that’s in closed triad….
  22. I have been shouted at on a recent Pride March by religious types telling me what might happen to me….along with the other 1500-2000 people on the march….thanks to strength in numbers we were able to ignore it and indeed laugh it off….now imagine the same scenario when you are just a couple or single person walking down the street getting abuse…trust me it’s very uncomfortable at the least….yet it’s still happening all too regularly….I have trans friends who were able to be themselves at the weekend thanks to pride….normally they are scared to leave the house because of what might happen to them….and this is a supposedly diverse city in 2023….but apparently we need to “integrate”…..

  25. I recently worked on a masons conference….don’t stress I wasn’t obviously allowed in the hall during the trouser rolling section…let’s just say it was a less than multi cultural audience….less than 1% I’d hazard a guess.
