  5. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002bb1d/midlands-today-lunchtime-news-21042025 Starts at 1min 35 sec It's only up till lunchtime on 22 April but I have ripped it....sadly cant get it small enough to upload here...as you say it's quite a good piece.
  6. They are a good guide to know how low the cloud cover is....or how thick the fog is....
  7. I think they should be listed and the transmitter building turned into a museum of broadcasting or radio personally....and I dont mind pylons or wind turbines...I do find solar farms a waste of land though....there is enough unused building roofspace.
  8. There are calls for the masts to be listed. https://c20society.org.uk/news/c20-calls-for-droitwich-transmitter-masts-listing I have read that one reason for the decommissioning is that valves for the transmitter are no longer available but not sure if this is true or not. We can see them clearly from the house/boat and find them reassuring in an odd sort of way!
  9. There was a lock cottage on the flight up for sale last year just after we brought our house but I can’t remember if it was this one or another one.

  11. Seconded for West system over decent ply. It’s what all my exterior woodwork has.

  15. My boat was built long before the RCR. You do seem somewhat obsessed about certain things…..
  16. Totally different properties! My posts seem to have merged together….
  17. Not mine…10mm in any direction including vertical and a close fitting cover….I would want more than deck boards as the greatest risk is probably a spanner when you are working on the engine with boards lifted.
  18. If you get it running I’d love to see…and hear!!…a video of it. The other place to try for info might be the Anson museum in Cheshire. Thanks for posting about it.
  19. Thatched roofs with a log burner are harder to insure than a thatched roof with an open fire….another fun fact. I think because there is more risk of sparks if the burner is run “hot”…my grandmother had a thatched cottage that had an open fire when she moved in then a log burner…all good for the 30 plus years she lived there with it being the main source of heat…..when she died and new people moved in they managed to set fire to the thatch in a few months and half burn the cottage down…….its been rebuilt with a tiled roof which has ruined its appearance! Another one with no road access. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/property/gallery/gorgeous-canalside-cottage-sale-under-31434359?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR43nAXilWCwdUEBg89Qjz3ViDODD0i2rTXkPAvfbU7RSTfpCV2iLuTx_dNXOw_aem_RuhXdqu6tJ_5Cy1HW0Slyg#Echobox=1745044666
  20. That might be it. Having been in the market for a canalside house one thing we also found was that insurance can be fun if you don’t have nearby road access….i presume because emergency services can’t reach the property easily.
  21. I think it was up for sale…but would need a land registry check to see if it actually went through I guess. I seem to recall there was something that raised alarm bells when I looked at it…just can’t remember what.

  23. Also if it’s just on the top of holding tank there isn’t any real pressure involved so it’s fairly easy to ensure it’s sealed well enough for the task without sealant imho.
  24. I think they are. They don’t do the compact gauge any more. They do the digital one and one that fits a 52mm hole.
  25. If you fit an MCS gauge you need a 3/4 bsp internal threaded flange. You also need to tell MCS the internal depth of the tank so they can make the sender the right length and calibrate it. I found them a really helpful company to deal with over the years….fitted lots of their gauges when I was working for a boat fitter…diesel/waste/fresh water.
