  5. Welcome to the forum, you will find a wealth of information on here, good luck with your search and heed the advice from the members who have lived afloat :-) they speak from experience. It is not a cheap way of living, but certainly a lovely life style. There is lots to take consideration of... Cost of boat, licence, insurance, maintenance, running costs, your own personal needs. We have lived on our boat full time for just over 2 years and would not change it for anything.

  13. A moorer here bought the first boat they viewed ( wide beam ) and regret it, stuck here on River Nene with limited travel either way. Only way to move it up on the GU is going to cost them £5K .the only marina able to accommodate the lifting of it on to a lorry, want a years mooring just for the day, then hire of lorry for moving etc.
  14. BIG congratulations and welcome to a wonderful stress free life x
  15. We have rubber door mats placed along our walkway, they were cheap ones from B&Q and work fine
  16. Oh yes I forgot it is a Bank Holiday, that is why it is raining, OH said on news last night to expect a months rain in two days, so out come the waders and the good old Ditchford Taxi ( our little row boat for emergency) were planning to building a decking on the bank this weekend, best laid plans......
  17. Nothing nicer than listening to the rain on the roof.

  18. This is very sad, however at least they DID eat it and did not kill it for the fun of it.
