  1. As a relatively new moorer at Crick since just after last years show can anyone clarify if i would be allowed to stay in the beer tent etc after the day crowds have left? Ian.

  3. I think you will find chequer plate is available in the uk from all good stores,and many bad ones.... Ian.
  4. There are to many pikeys at Billing,been there seen them...lock up anything metallic. Ian
  5. Interesting idea but as said its not only the cost,welding is trickier,forming is more difficult.The more i think of it the dearer it becomes. Ian.
  6. Had a similar problem last year,turned out to be the gearbox.It was slipping then gripping which caused on/off loading to the engine making it shake on the mounts. Ian.

  8. I am new to boats but not to engines,never had a problem with tapwater in my car and bike engines.....
  9. Water over the rudder effects the steering and your boat will turn,how much depends on various things. Ian.
  10. Camped there with some friends a couple of years ago...very iffy areas would suggest you visit it beforehand and see for yourself.Belive there to be a travellers camp on its doorstep but they only seemed to travel as far as Billing itself..... Ian.

Im suprised at the brokers attitude.We brought our first boat almost a year ago and the broker spent as long as we needed with us.As we were completely new to boating it was much needed info.Id strongly suggest that if your newish to boating in general that you find a friendly face to show you the basics,its easy to do some damage if your unsure.Where are you in the country?   12. I believe Vactan can be applied to damp steel/rust. Ian Does Vactan not react with the moisture in the rust and stop further problems? Ian
  13. Have many decided winters over and reversed there winterisation methods? Ian
  14. Wrong. Ian. Modern bikes also turn,stop and grip way better than older ones,throttle turns 2 ways.... Ian
  15. I believe pink lasts longer than blue antifreeze and is fine in modern engines like yours so id choose pink...but you should drain well before changing as i dont think they mix well. Ian.
  16. Maybe your boiling your batteries and the gas given off has discoloured the copper. Ian
  17. Getting back to my question would correct procedure be to turn off all taps then open the water tank tap to the pump,turn it on and let it refill the pipes? Also iv drained the calorifier,will it refill ok,no airlocks to worry about?.We are getting excited now,have been useing the boat but itl be good to have running water again after the winter. Ian.

  19. Having survived my first winter as a boat owner,non liveaboard,how do we decide its safe to turn the water supply etc back on ? Also when we do is it just a case of reversing what we did and keeping a good eye out for leaks and checking the water pumps only run when they should? Ian.
