  4. I am a bit of a geek when it comes to looking at which pub to go to. This needs a little bit of research! Look at the website www.canalsidepubs.co.uk/pubs/macclesfield.htm this gives you all of these pubs and some details 2 have websites Windmill (Whiteley Green, Macclesfield) www.thewindmill.info Railway (Congleton) www.therailwayinncongleton.co.uk Boars Head is in Higher Poynton, Stockport Old Kings Head is in Gurnett, Macclesfield Fools Nook is in Macclesfield There are pub review sites. Put in the pub name and location into a search engine (eg google) to find reviews of these pubs. Alternatively hope that somebody here can make a recommendation!

  7. This is GinJer at Midland Canal Centre, Stenson, ignore the boat shaped object on the left behind me, GinJer is the pile of steel on the floor with a gas cylinder on the top. I am assured it will look like a boat in about a week.
  8. If the trip is soon do you need to take into account the seasonal repairs to the waterways?
  9. Thermal fishing boots, wellington type (one size bigger than you usually take) with 2 pairs of socks one wooley. I fish in freezing winter weather (dont catch any fish!) but my feet are kept nice and warm

  13. My wife (Ginnie) & I have put a deposit on a new narrowboat. It is being built in January, ready for April 2012. It has been our ambition for many years(about 15)to own a narrowboat. 'GinJer' is being built by MCC boat-builders in Stenson, just south of Derby on the Trent & Mersey canal. GinJer is a 40 foot, little gem class narrowboat. We live in Arnold, Notts. We will use GinJer for weekends / holidays. I am looking forward to being part of the canal community, cruising along the canals in the ever changing scenery, visiting the canal-side pubs / real ale, fishing, the adventure. I am a bit / a lot excited!
