We have a shoreline fridge which I reckon was worth every penny, we have also bought a converter from shoreline which it switches to when on land line well pleased with both but not cheap then again wouldnt have expected them to be. We had a waeco cool box which only lasted 13 month before burning out Bren

  4. Yes we have the same problem with a led bought from Puffer Parts, the ones bought from Leisure Power more expensive but no problem at all Brenda

  7. I agree you go for your dream Ive never regretted it, too many negatives here, you will get used to lifting gas bottles and coal you wouldnt be doing that anyway on a hireboat Brenda
  8. We have the cheap leisure batts £60 each from Puffer Parts could be £65 now they are on there 4th winter and doing great no fancy battery controllers or anything like that just a solar panel which does a good job Bren
  9. Think you will find the coolie hat is the problem I tried the whole works but only thing that stopped it was removing coolie hat Brenda
  10. Hubbie and I manage great on a 40ft cruiser stern we have a staffie and another small dog yes we would have liked longer but had to think about mooring and licence fees which go on length we bought as a sailaway then spent approx £10,000 fitting out you could of course spend less or more Bren
  11. We have the F11 on our boat dont know what they call the flu but its a strange shape my friend went to the Morco factory in Hull to get it and passed bss ok, must say though I dont like it only firing up with mains electric as it means you have to have your inverter on Bren
  12. We got some hard shiny rubber ones from"PUFFER PARTS" do the job great Bren
  13. Yes we have changed most of our halagen for led think we got them from Leisure Power they are great use hardly any battery power, would agree to the warm white ones the ordinary white ones look like a mortuary Bren
  14. We got some very hard rubber runners from "Puffer Parts" working fine 3 years later had to drill and screw them on Bren

Hi we went from a narrowboat to a grp cruiser which had been vandalised we bought her for £400 spent about £1000 doing her up then enjoyed 4 lovely years weekends and hollidays we had stacks of fun on her, then sold her for £2700 so dont reckon she owed us a penny just make sure it has a good outboard engine we only sold as we wanted a narrowboat to live on I think it would be a good way of getting you on the water Bren

Yes I think LEDs have a long way to go we got for our reading lights a 21 cluster led from Leisure Power and we're very happy with them they do have voltage controlers in them but not cheap at £14 each though they may have dropped in price as it was 2 years ago they only use 1 and a half watts Brenda

  19. yes this is what i dont understand differant examiners seem to have differant books they certainly have differant standards i have always used the examiner who has now retired so i am dreading my test next year as i dont know now where the goal posts are thanks Brenda
  20. thanks all for your help geuss he'll have to put in another vent which is a shame its only 27ft long has 2 vents has room sealed water heater but of course a cooker and small solid fuel stove thanks Brenda
  21. my friend has built a narrowboat from scratch after he had finished the shell he had a bss surveyer examiner inspect it and advise him hes now finished it but the said examiner unfortunately has retired so has had to have a differant one for his test. the first one told him what vents he needed and said it would be classed as open plan although it is open there is a corridor from galley passed bathroom to bedroom but the new inspector is not in agreement and says it has to have another vent in sallon galley he is not taking into account the one in the bedroom, anyone any ideas on this as it is open plan. thanking you Brenda
  22. never heard of any official residential moorings in or around skipton but it still can be done though there does seem to be a shortage of moorings round here Bren
  23. I have one was never asked for proof of residence just used a friends address for them to send it to Brenda
  24. We have the Vetus set-up I asked the Vetus dealer if it would be better with a coupling he gave me a definate no Bren
