  1. I've not fell In yet, but I know that the day i do is only a matter of time away!
  2. We had a few strikes, not last night but on Saturday evening. Was a bit unexpected but soon passed. Was a bit of onboard entertainment
  3. On the inverter I posted about above, that too has a USB port and that is mostly how I charge the iPad with the USB port and its fine!
  4. You'll have no problem charging an iPad on a modi wave nverter. We have an iPad and can charge through our sterling inverter or a cheap inverter we got for £30 from go outdoors to run the TV. It's this one here which I'm assuming is modified sinewave unless anyone else can tell me otherwise. My link ( its about half way down the page.) The brand is "RING" Never had a problem on either inverter though when it comes to charging the iPad or even watching a TV. Think the biggest things that are a problem with modified wave are washing machines.
  5. Haha brilliant! Glad they came out right. Always wondered in recipes though what the salt actually does?! And I think they were better warm anyway
  6. Farm end moorings are difficult to find and the best way of finding one is walking the towpath and actually chatting to other boats you see moored on farm end moorings and getting contact details etc or heading to the farmers themselves. That's what we did at one point. A bit more labour involved than booking into a marina or bidding on a BW mooring, but if its what you want it'll be worth it!

  8. Deal! Is that 'cakey biscuits' though or 'cake' and 'biscuits'?!?
  9. I didn't mean the residents - it's not up to you guys to fix pontoons, driveways and sort out what looked like a load of scrap metal (boat building side?!) anyway, so take no offence , I didn't mean it like that!
  10. Like I mentioned on blog, I think my next ones will be the same dough mixture but just baked on its own and then dipped into melted chocolate followed by crushed nuts...almonds, hazelnuts, Brazil's.... MMMMmmmMMM it'll be like a florentine. Would be interesting to give the cocoa and marmalade ones a go tho! Send us one!
  11. As in adding cocoa to the actual dough you mean? If so, I'd prob use around 170g of flour and then 30g of cocoa to make it up to 200g Behave
  12. We looked at doing this but the minimum was 500 litres from quite a few companies....not sure I'd want to store that much!
  13. Works in other places - a tea shop etc.... Be good for the resident moorers and passing boats or even local community if there's quite a few walkers around there and that.... Works around here although from what I briefly remember the marina entrance/buildings aren't on the towpath side are they?
  14. I made some of these today.... They were lovely! If I made em again I'd probably make them smaller as they were more like a giant cookie, or even a cake, but the dough is definately a good all rounder that you could use as a base for all sorts of biscuits! Some pics of how mine turned out here: My link A Jammy Biscuit: Ingredients: * 200g self raising flour * 100g caster sugar * 100g butter, use room temperature for ease * 1 egg * 12 tsps of jam Method: 1.Preheat your oven to Gas mark 5 and take all your ingredients out. 2. In a large mixing bowl, measure out your flour, sugar and butter and rub the butter into the sugar/flour so it resembles breadcrumbs. I found that it was actually better to use room temperature butter that was soft, rather than butter from a fridge that can be really difficult to rub into the flour for this - it made it a lot quicker! 3. Next, add just enough egg to make a stiff mixture that comes away clean from the bowl. Then, shape the dough into a sausage shape which is about 5cm in diameter. 4. Cut the 'sausage' into rings - around 1.5-2cm thick. You should get around 12 biscuits 5. Place the biscuits on a baking tray and make an indentation with either the end of a wooden spoon or your finger! The indent should be big enough to accommodate a teaspoon of jam. 6. Add your teaspoons of jam to each biscuit! 7. Pop them in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes, they should be just turning golden and have risen ever so slightly, with a slight 'cracked' appearance They were great with a cuppa this afternoon. Not overly crunchy but definately crisp on the edges and slightly soft and chewy in the middle - really good! ETA - Sorry meant to post in recipes - can a mod move it please
  15. Agree with that. We have just an integral which could probably last us maybe 3 or even 4 weeks. Showers are used everyday, washing pots washing machine etc etc but....the tank inside was once filled with orange gunge as the water is basically sitting in the bottom of the boat! So it needs to be cleaned and blacked say, once a year....which reminds me!
  16. What a shame .... So much scope for it to do well and it's just left rotting and not being maximised in terms of what it could be capable of.... Lttle shop, diesel, coal, pump out, gas etc...teas/coffees???. We were going to go on that marina last year, had an appointment booked with a guy named Kit to go for a slot, but when we were approaching the place by boat I just upped the speed and went straight past - it was in a really dreadful state and not somewhere I wanted to be. You could tell whoever was running it didn't give a damn about upkeep or keeping the place tidy at least. Shame
  17. Hi kae Would you consider getting one of those mini twin tubs? Not read the whole thread so yo might have already said otherwise, but We have one like this My link Ours was a German branded one though but it has around the same capacity - around 4kg which is more than enough for two people and can do duvet covers, sheets etc too. We've had ours over a year now as we only had a 1600w inverter installed which isn't enough to run a washing machine.... But I wouldn't go back now. I find it easier to be honest and quicker than an automatic! Its pretty companct not like the old twin tubs and we just have it in the engine room!
  18. Well we we up one morning and I decided it would be quite good to live on a boat. Went on Apollo duck and convinced the OH to have a look at a boat with me, we did and put a deposit it on it the next and completed by the end of the month....all worked out fine but naive or what!?
  19. Great links guys. We definately need something like this too as we're on towpath....but I'm always worried I'm going to look like an 80 year old lady!?
  20. You're on that marina aren't you Kiki? It was one we were going to head too but decided against it. What happens now?? Does everyone have to leave?

  22. I asked about this last year but was quickly dismissed as it being a waste of time and just to use the immersion heater early in the morning whereby the solar panels would then recharge the panels by early afternoon .... Still interested in something like this....with only a calorifier and no need in summer to have the engine on at all (690w solar array) except to heat water this would be really good for me...
  23. Ooh errr i got scared reading the title of that thread thinking is someone going to burn my boat!? Thanks for the heart failure! Lewis
