  1. Ours open Could it be related to the age of the boat- Ours is a 1990 boat - similar age to Pennies
  2. Sorry if this is a daft question- but are your mushrooms open? Has someone screwed them closed?

  4. Black stump-a black Shiraz from Laithwaites is my favourite
  5. Sainsburys do a great dried rice noodle that you just soak in hot water- brand is mama. Great for stir fries.
  6. Hope this isnt off topic- but can I ask advice about running a slow cooker off an invertor. We don't have an invertor but I would like to have a slow cooker. If a 300 watt one would do- Do I just plug the invertor into a 12v cigar type plug ( we have one near the galley) and plug the slow cooker into the invertor If we did this whilst cruising - would it mpact the batteries in any negative way or- I've seen 12v slow cookers- Are they any good? Thanks

  8. Great price- the butchers around here charge silly prices for lamb shanks- pork shanks are a bit more reasonable but increasing in price- I'm tempted by a trip to Lincoln to fill my freezer- I like to add rosemary, a generous splash of red wine and a tablespoon of bramble jelly

  10. I like the boat- but your posts always seem to degenerate into aggressiveness or smart arse comments
  11. Fradley-its quite local to me and I used to love watching the boats-but now we're boaters, its full of people shuffling about. Funny how your perception changes. Slightly off topic- but has anyone been in to the Mucky duck recently-we stopped after having a few terrible meals there
  12. Am I reading this correctly- 66% of all continuous cruisers do not move further than 20Km? Of all the CCers I know, the vast majority move much further than that and I only know a couple who don't cruise more than that We can only boat at weekends and holidays because of work commitments, but we can easily manage 20Km in a weekend. Tell me I'm missing something here
  13. But I flush the hose each time and the tank regularly and chlorinate the water- so I'll take my chance- goodness knows where those Rhinos have been and I'm sure urine would be an aquired taste- does anyone know?
  14. Whilst there may be a need in some places in this world- Whilst I have a BW key, I'll stick with a tap and hose

  20. And a caravan could be an option to live in whilst doing up a boat. Retired friends of ours lived in a cheap caravan at their sons whilst they fitted out a sailaway and then sold the caravan for a little more than they bought it for. It gave them a welcome separate space to return to each day with a made up bed and away from the vision of what still needed to be done. They now cc and love their boating life
