    Thank you everyone for your replies so many years ago! I had no idea how to use this forum then. Mike was right, if i had’nt been very well overplated i’d be at the bottom of the canal now as the original hull had rusted away completely. I’m still working away but still going?

    Hi. Looking to change the gear oil on my lister SR3 engine and would much appreciate a bit of advice re: the best oil to use. Engine has been slowing down & eventually stops on a journey more than a few miles. Thanks

    Hi This is my first time on here, so i hope i am not butting in somewhere i should'nt be! Extremely new to all this as i am in process of having boat surveyed (on 10th) it is an old boat, 1976 built by Mindon with original Lister SR3 engine, she has been kept well though. Can anyone tell me anything about anything? Any questions i REALLY need to ask the surveyors? I would appreciate any help at all. It sounds as if i should also ask them to measure the width while they are at it

    Ha ha...well i still want my boat...so i'm hoping the life for me. This is my first venture onto this site and just the one question, private sale vs marina, advantages and disadvantages...can i have some tips please?...I really am new to this and ANY help will be greatly appreciated. Are there any alternative magazines with boats for sale? I'd like to buy soon and work on it over the winter to move in spring, I think i can cope with me mum for that long! Thanks.

    oh thank you thats really nice. I was recommended by a friend (who lives aboard). to join as am looking into buying a barge with the eventual aim to live aboard. Am hoping to get some good advice on what (and what not) to look out for. I know it's a BIG subject, but am in no rush & hope to learn as i go along. Have a lovely day & Hi to all.
