  6. Every time I get an idea in my head it involves something that is not available or like hens teeth. Unwashed Gansey yarn mentioned ells were. The Sami rule of thumb for their wool frock or "kolt". That seems to be Swedens most well kept secret passed on from grandmother to granddaughter. Back cabin plans that are more than just a scetch. The list is long and I don't want to bore you.... And now, Z-twist yarn outside of Sweden. The ones available here are nasty! Short fibred, un durable, second grade wool. I've Googled and came up with zip, nada..... Does any of you know of a UK source who also does wholesale? I might be buying 10 kilos or so. I talked to one mill and they wanted an order of 5000 kilos just to flip the switch the other way ;-)
  7. The one on Ebay is £31.67 including shipping. Ecotoilets's is £44.94 with economy shipping.
  8. To many, wool is just wool. And I admit I often choose yarns on a more more "ooooh shiny" basis than trough knowledgable choice. But my favourites are more hair like wools like Blue Faced Leicester, Norwegian Spelsau and Swedish Rya. What I totally suck at is comparing different thicknesses. Sock yarn, worsted, 4 ply, Aran...wraps per inch...can be confusing. And I tend to look for stitch count or meters per hekto (100 grams) I enrolled by the way. Thanks Catrin.

  10. Alternator regulator. I'd rather try popping a new one in with the alternator in place first. And then take the whole thing out if it still doesn't work.

  13. So, which machine or tool is your favourite? The one you would choose if you were only allowed one. I think I'd choose my Creelman Money Maker sockmachine with the bronce cylinders.
  14. Sand has pretty good heat storing qualities. If you can get a heat storing sand stove approved in the UK, here's some inspiration. They've been around for a couple of hundred years and function well in our climate. They burn wood only and you light then only twice a day. http://www.dn.se/bostad/varmande-hemmabygge-med-hog-mysfaktor/ Although, I guess they are not compatible with your legal requirements.

  16. Hahaha, no......smoothe as a baby. Been called a manatee at the beach :-D
  17. Hoping that cat picture is photoshopped and not a documentation of some cruel teenage prank.
  18. Here official recommendations are 22C day time and 18C at night time. But I normally keep the house at around 16-17C downstairs and 12C in the bedroom during the cold season. But I'm a hottie myself ;-) Just interested cuz some of the temps mentioned make me sweat just by reading them.
  19. What is considered as normal room temperature over there?
  20. Long time ago i measured any protuberances :-D
  21. I'm the dude :-) And apparently others find the idea appealing too. I've had a PM inquiring if I'd sell one. Found a tip now "aprox 3" up from armholes on a size 44"
