  1. Hi, good luck with your search

  2. Have had? does this mean you dont have a boat?
  3. Did you read the whole post or just that part?
  4. DeanS, I always only open the paddle on the same side of the lock as the boat when going up in a wide lock, the water forces will keep your boat tight to the side rather than the bow bouncing off both walls, once the lock is about half full open the other paddles slowly and your boat should stay put.
  5. Dieselboat, sorry for refering to you as a HE! i did not wish to cause you offence by that or any of my other comments. You are correct i do not know you, but by posting on an open forum you invite others to form opinions about you and your views based on what you write. At no point in your op did you say that you had been unfairly singled out, or that B.W. were wrong and you do in fact meet the CCing requirements, so i assumed that you do not, if that is not correct then correct me! I perhaps should have said that my comments are not aimed just at you but anyone who breaks the rules and also at some of the other posts in the thread that seemed to be saying just go and break the rule somewhere else, others moaning that it was happening everywhere and another saying to get a lesure mooring and use it as residential as not as bad a rule to break. I find all of this unacceptable. I hope you are sucessfull in your quest for an acceptable mooring and if your search area increases to include the northern section of the oxford, i know some very helpfull people in the rugby area with private moorings who may be able to help. Is it prejudice to expect poeple to abide by the rules?
  6. I dont understand why everyone thinks its ok to claim to be CC'ers when you clearly are not, i understand the op's circumstances have changed and it may be hard to find a mooring where he wants, but after 6 months i can see why he's being asked to move on. I personaly think its good that the overstayers are being asked to move on, not much fun to end a days cruising to find no decent moorings as they are all taken by boats that have set up home on the towpath and clearly never/rarely move, while we end up moored to a scabby piece of bank, with a 2ft gap to jump. If you need to stay in one place for work/school or whatever, you should have a mooring or go live on the land. These are not new rules, you all knew the situation when you bought your boats, and maybe you should have found your moorings first. End of rant.
  7. My boss just bought one of these, ran perfectly for around 8 hours on very little fuel, but it chucked all its oil on the floor over this time, checked it out and was leaking from air filter. Was not over filled guess there is to much crank case presure.
  8. I have been told that the Thames barrier will be used to stop/slow the efects of the tide! is this likely? or even possible?
  9. It was closed early november when we went through, but the exelent shop still open
  10. Clifton Cruisers at rugby are my personal choice, very nice boats that dont scream "HIRE BOAT", good value, and a very helpfull friendly service. Not that close to the south coast but worth the trip IMO, i am also on the south coast and travel up there twice a year for our hols! also you have a good choice of routes from rugby, and no i am not related Edited to add, you should also do some reading on boating before you go, i.e. locks, mooring ect, The Boaters Giude is very basic, but a good place to start, available on line as a pdf. Google should find it (i have not yet worked out how to provide links )
  11. What do you mean by pump out point? IME most pump outs are at private marina's or boat yards, there are some BW pump out points but they are few and far between.

    12v MCB

Dont know much about which MCB's are ok for 12v most AC ones can suffer DC arc if used on 12v. But most AC MCB's are DIN but the hight and position of the conections wont allways match the buzz bar if different makes are used

  14. e.g. this I know, you obviously did not detect the hint of sarcasam, hello Phylis, you are a legend on these page's nice to meet you
  15. I would suggest that if you are worried by this sort of anti social behaviour that you only plan to moor at recognised visitor moorings in nice safe area's where there are likely to be other boaters (safety in numbers). IMO your no more likely to have trouble on the towpath than anywhere else, dont worry and just enjoy your travels
